Probably at least the 99 millionth thread on performance problems... Don't have enough tech details or hard info to post anything on the jira, but I wanted to at least report my experiences somewhere. (Also don't want to join the screaming masses demanding Linden blood...) Been in-world since mid-april, don't remember what viewer ver it was then but wanna say 1.14 something. It ran like a DREAM on my machine (Dell Latitude laptop, Intel T7200 2 GHz dual-core w/ 2 Gb of Ram, 256 Mb nVidia Quadro NVS 110 M) -- I could max out the draw distance, most all of the graphics settings, smooth as silk.
With every viewer update, it seems like things are getting a little worse and a little worse. I've noticed memory usage has EXPLODED (also seems like memory leaks, as memory usage creeps up over time w/ the viewer running) and I'm now experiencing what I call "lag attacks" -- every few minutes or so (don't have an exact fix on the frequency) SL slows to a CRAWL for 30-45 s or so, fps MAYBE 1. Then it clears up and I'm running well again for a while until the next "attack" comes along.
Anybody else experiencing similar symptoms? I (quickly) sifted thru the bug reps on teh jira and didn't see anything specifically matching this (did see some activity about memory leaks tho and voted for them).

Which Dell Latitude? I've got a D600 that wishes that it had stats like yours (mine has a single core 1.6 GHz cpu, a 2 GHz dual core would be a DREAM as well as your video card, then I could play Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends! *cry*)

It's a D820, actually my computer from work (pays to be nice to the IT guy in charge of purchasing lol). Don't know much about Rise of Nations, but I did find it's not QUITE up to running Oblivion (at least not w/o totally destroying the graphics settings, so I got a 360 for that ). BUT, w/ this kind of machine I shouldn't be having what I _know_ to be client-side performance problems (talk to other people in the same sim, even right next to me, and they're running just fine). I'm spending some time looking for other things that may have changed on the machine to explain what's going on, but it sure seems there's a strong correlation between the viewer updates and performance degradation. I posted a Jira proposal asking for better performance as a sort of 'catch-all', for all performance improvements, the URL is: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-864 (you need to go to 'Home' and log-in first though, Jira screws up if you log-in straight from a proposal to vote). But I've noticed the same. I can't wear a set of armour I used to wear all the time because FPS goes to 5 or less in a perfectly fast running region, where before a bad frame-rate for me was 15, with generally much higher in most places. LOD seems to have broken at some point as it makes little difference anymore when detail in a scene gets high. Packet is incredibly bad as well. I can barely use some items like HUDs because none of the clicks seem to make it to the scripts!

It seems the latest updates have completely reversed all teh performance gains from the First Look Viewer. To be expected I guess, LL has what must be an unwritten policy of breaking everything they put in.
