My two cents: Why all the animation? Change for the sake of change?

I see alot of the gripes i'm going to lay out here are already posted, but i'd like to tie them all together in one thread, specifically in what seems to be the underlying desire for the changes: animation.
Not everything need morph and sparkle and shift and go bing! It gets distracting, and therefore a little annoying.
Up until now all the changes have been very intuitive and smooth. But this last update has me tunred upside down enough to want to leave a little feedback.

These are specifically the changes i've seen which i do not find appealing:
•The new pie menu make me feel like i'm suffering from glaucoma, just before it rezzes into a coherent circle.
•The snapshot obscures the entire window, as though my whole window becomes a viewfinder. This feelks like overkill.
•The map window has an enormous (and unecessarily so) search field, and my landmarks folder is all random. Where did the alphabetizing go?
• Find is now 'Search'. I know this happened a while ago, but it still hangs me up.
•The arrow keys no longer behave the way they should in the text fields (Up arrow to jump to the beginning of text, down to go to the end). They seem to have been overridden as choosers. I'm on a Mac, fwiw, and this is seriously counter-intuitive.
• The enter key now seems to activate whatever button is 'chosen' (last used?) rather than opening a new chat. I remember this as being a toggle, but now it's defaulted to a choose action.
•*Land textures seem to take forever to load. This may be my hardware, or a client-side issue, but it didn't seem to be a problem before now.

Just because a thing can be changed it does not necessarily follow that it should be so.
Thanks for listening! Feels good to have a place to drop my $0.02L!

Gestures. Try holding the right mouse button, moving to a choice, and then letting go.

Its not like these features are all that nice, I've yet to hear one single person say they like the new pie menu effect (lest we forget its lovely new bug as well). I doubt the "Updates" LL made could ever be justified when compared to the constantly growing list of bugs I've encountered so far. And the sad thing is with each passing day the bug list continues to grow, while SL's Bandaide approach of patching the crippled update does nothing more than smudge the flaws rather than remove them =(

I just "dropped" an object no less than four times trying to edit it when attached to my HUD (editing it on the ground is no good, needs fine-tuning). The fourth time I crashed to top it all off.
I'm used to being able to right-click to bring up a pie-menu, let go of right-click, choose an object and then click, now it results in me choosing things I don't want to do!

it was always that way. If people were too dumb to figure it out, tough.

They have hired people who don't know how to do anything good and useful, so instead of either firing them, or having them study how to make improvements, or using them to keep the bongs loaded, they let them do what they do sort of halfway know how to do, which is how to change interfaces for the worse: less functional, slower, more annoying, more distracting, and uglier.

I've had my client crash *several* times when dropping worn items or attaching objects off the ground, and the other day just wearing an HUD crashed me :(
Since the new pie menu bug likes to choose those two items randomly as well I can probably look forwards to loosing more of my creations being lost permenantly in a drop/wear bug...

ALL interface changes in 1.11 need to be rolled back, I haven't seen anything changed to them that is any more useful/functional than before. Except maybe snapshots with have grown on me, but are still definitely not user friendly for taking simple snaps like most people are used to!

For anyone who is wondering WHY all these interface changes are happening, it is because they are completely rewriting the UI code so they can make it fully XML skinnable, meaning that once it is all finished, you will be able to tweak change and alter it to your heart's content.

Personally, I think that this is a very laudibe goal, and I just wish they would learn how to make it behave at least approximately the same as it used to in the interim.

If the new UI is going to be so amazingly configurable, why can't they adjust the 'default' config of it which we are getting now so that it matches the old UI?
