Undesirable "feature" in building menu"

As most veteran users would know, ctrl+1 brings up the building menu camera. Some (most?) people would use this important feature as a way to manipulate the camera, so they don't have to constantly hold down "ctrl" to manipulate the camera.

Additonally, many builders would find this to be annoying whilst building. It makes it hard to tell how something is going to turn out whilst editing it if it's constantly red.

It used to be that you would hold down alt to give all scripted items a reddish coloring (is this correct?). Now, it's /always/ on, with no way to turn it off except by closing the building menu.

Could it be possible to change it to the older version or add a check box thusly: "Highlight scripted objects," So that my poor little pinky finger won't grow tired from holding Ctrl without me having red-vision?

I havent had this issue, and I believe there's a setting in the debug menus to turn it off. Try that. Also, to each his own, but, I never use the camera controls, building or not. I use control, alt, and shift while in building mode to swtich between scale, position, and camera movement. I find it's extremely fast once you get used to it.

I think the problem is that if you disable Render Beacons, it'll enable Render Highlights, and vice versa. If not for that, I would consider this improved beacon functionality. But so far I can't figure out a way to disable both Beacons and Highlights showing while the Build stuff is open.

Edit: You can disable each *type* of beacon/highlight ("Scripted Objects", "Particle Sources" etc) in View > Beacons >. Didn't think to do that because that just makes beacon functionality slightly less easy than before. But if you never use beacons, you can disable them all that way.

In an effort to push beacon and highlighting together, and have consistency between them, I implemented what is there now.

I honestly didn't consider the fact that this is *always* on when build mode in on.

So, how about I just remove the "auto on" functions when build mode in engaged, and then you can turn it on or off as you wish with the Beacons Always On function?

The toggling of the beacons / highlights was intentional in order that when Beacons Always On was enabled, you would _always_ see something - you can't turn both types off then enable Beacons Always On and be confused.

That sounds reasonable to me. I've been trying to find a JIRA entry to try to figure out what others want, with no luck...

Veteran users hmm.... well been here nearly 2 years and never used ctrl anything for camera when building. Just like when not building I have the little camera window up with the arrows I use my mouse and mouse wheel to move my camera much less clunky than using keys.

I've just removed the auto On for when in build mode. You should see it in the next viewer revision.
