Ok... I've been a paying member for a while. Today, I've about reached the end of my rope. I'm ready to cancel my premium membership and being charged for it be d***ed. I cannot see paying for service I (nor other) paying members THOUGHT we were getting.

Each new *update* seems to take us further back.

Issues I have:
Crashing - a lot... Doesn't matter if I'm running 1 viewer or 2... one or both will take a crapper.

Friends List - It's kinda hard to do anything with friends if you cannot tell if they are online or not, much less business contacts. You have to IM them to see if they are online and sometimes that doesn't even work.

Viewer changing settings without permission

Viewer FORCING to full screen on log in. Changing this to WINDOW VIEW before logging in has forced viewer to crash. Doing this with the viewer logged in and full screen will almost always guarantee any other viewer running will crash.

Some graphics look sharper while others look like crap. Though I have water again, but what good does that do me when I can't stay logged in long enough to enjoy it once it rezzes?????

So, in summary, I see I am paying each month for crashes, lag, inventory loss, inability to TP, inability to send group notices and all the numerous other problems SL has had since December at the least. DISCLAIMER (SL has one why can't I): Not all problems will apply to all people, there is no guarantee you'll get what you pay for, no guarantee you'll always have your in-world objects, no guarantee of any kind except a lot of frustration and aggravation depending on what LL has broken this time or what time of the day it is.

I fully agree. I keep crashing every 5-20 minutes on second life, making it impossible to do absolutely anything! And each new update introduces new problems, and this time they dont even have the consideration to give you a rollback to the viewer that was working for you. I can not play second life, and all of these crashes can and will take a toll on any and all computers! I personally think they should atleast post a rollback while they get everything fixed, and make any updates optional, not mandatory.

I agree. Make sure that the updates are OPTIONAL until they actually fully get all issues inked out. Its called "playtesting" any good gaming business actually DOES that, especially when they want to justify jacking up prices on everything from services to land to private islands.

We are paying for something here, and that something should NOT be a load of crap, or else i'm just counting a loss, pulling the 100$ US (or more) usually spent a month on this thing, and telling them where they can stick it. I'll find the competitor they hate the most, purposefully join them, and hype them out of spite alone. Am I that mad?

Yes. Quite. I don't like repeatedly getting told something is fixed, only to be told later "Oh, yeah..about that. We didn't really fix it. In fact, its pretty well clear we don't know what in the heck we ARE doing."

So please, Linden Labs, for the good of your company..NO MORE UPDATES. Only you guys could BREAK your own product further and further and have the nerve to call it progress. :P

And Alphas!

And in the menu under client, rendering, types i can no longer select alpha. There is no X beside it and no way i see to get one there. I've tried the keyboard shortcuts, I've tried selecting it in the menu.

So one of my fave past times, lucky chair hopping, is gone to me unless it's the crappier version with the floating text above it.

This version bites.

Oh and memory leak issues too. I love being told daily by windows when I run SL that it has "Windows is low on virtual memory" and is adjusting it for me and my pc will run like crap in the process.

I don't put 100 a month into the game, but I do pay my premium membership and spend roughly 50 a month on purchasing lindens to shop with for things that will break or poof with updates or issues, land tiers and shop rent.

I'm to the point of why bother? I can go around in freebies since that's the only thing that doesn't seem to poof out of my inventory!

Render -> Alpha hasn't worked for a while now. I noticed it back in 1.14, maybe even the version before that. I bug reported it then too.

Possible Alpha workaround? Not 100% sadly

I skipped 1.14... I installed it, saw it was worse than 1.13, uninstalled, weeded from registry, rebooted and went back to 1.13 lol

But you are right it was missing there as well. HOWEVER

sometimes this seems to work and sometimes it doesn't
Go to Edit and Preferences.
Choose Graphics Detail.
Make sure Enable Vertex Shaders is selected.
Apply and relog.

SOMETIMES this works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I have to relog several times for it to work but then TP somewhere and it won't. But it's the only way I've managed to get them to work at all. I guess something is better than nothing for now...

If you've tried this already, don't mind me. SL is broken, however one thing that seems to have a pretty good success rate: turn of Vertex Buffer Objects or VBO. It was introduced somewhere in 1.13 1.14 to speed up rendering and "improve stability". hehe, specially on laptops, turning it off seems to improve stability.

Disable VBO
  1. Go to Edit menu > Preferences > Adv. Graphics tab
  2. Turn off Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects option

http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=443

The instructions are there, along with some other tips. Some of the others might be useful as well but I recommend disabling VBO first as you aren't going to loose any visual quality by doing so.

No problems for me, please make Version 1.0 available for those having problems but the rest of us want more updates, fixes & features :)
And I thought we were all getting the first look viewer, mine doesn't seem to be any different.
