Chat history "bug"

It's starting to get to the minds of several people of whom i talk to.

Before this patch, when the chat history was clicked and you were to press enter, a typing bar would come up. Now it doesn't, giving much grief, as i would type half a sentence before i realized that it's not actually being typed.

While on this note; was it really required that this patch come out? It's just added several little lines, and silly doo-dads that nobody really wanted (or asked for). I don't think people forget where they are on the map. I don't think people need buttons outlined for them to see them. I don't think more lag in the game is required. And i don't think people would rather keep all this in exchange for broken scripts, and other troubles that this patch has caused.

A suggestion: don't push out a cosmetic patch just for the sake of having a cosmetic patch. If it's not broken, don't try to fix it.

Repeat: If it's not broken, don't try to fix it!

On a further note: K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Stupid!

For me and a lot of people we left the chat bar open at all times. Now if you use the mouse for anything the chat bar loses focus and you dance/jump run off in odd directions while your trying to type... very annoying.

Yes do not change just for the sake of change if it works don't fix it because you usually break it instead...

I reported the "Chat Line Focus" bug, it is very very annoying. A temporary workaround is to get used to do "ESC ENTER" instead.

I wholeheartedly agree with "If it's not broken, don't fix it!", and I'd like to take it a step further: "Fix the bugs before adding new features."

Along the lines of this...

It used to be, if you hit enter while nothing had focus (click random place in-world while not in edit, or click on land), and you hit enter, the chat line/bar would come up...

Now, it enables/disables whatever random button you last clicked, be it fly, inventory, build, or whatever.

Sigh.

For some reason, I have developped a habit of hitting ENTER everytime I need to say something, even if the chat bar is up. Then it closes the chat bar. Like people have said before, I start typing and realize nothing is being typed. It must be the years of my Diablo2 addiction.

I'm having exactly the same problem and so are a lot of others I talk to. I've pointed them to this forum and hopefully they'll add their comments.
Personally if I do one more backflip instead of chatting I may really flip. ;)

That's because the button maintains focus! What a useful feature!
I opened the Histroy and then closed it by clicking "History" and then attempted to type (my chat bar was open). Instead I started jumping around. WTF? Tehn I knowticed that the History button was highlighted as if it was open. I needed to click on the chat bar in order to type.

[UPDATE] Found out from Quality Assurance that "Hitting enter while chat history has focus should focus the chat bar" is a bug we've got entered. Apparently one that woke back from the dead after being fixed before.

So, it'll hopefully be fixed soon.
