I have been in SL for over 2 years now. I own a sim and a large yard sale that I have regular vendors come out and participate. I have sent in enough bug reports to choke a horse. My sim has had numerous issues in the past 3 months. Some of them have gotten a little bit better, some of them worse. None have actually been addressed with me. I will list the issues I have been dealing with (seeing as we no longer have any kind of help in SL):

1) I clear the yard sale twice a week to keep things fresh. For at least 2 months now it is a crap shoot on if anyone actually gets their items returned to them. I have had at least 30 complaints about this problem. I have had many of them file bug reports as well as myself.

2) I can no longer use textures that are no copy/no mod/transfer. I used to be able to resell clothes that came with pictures that were transfer. I can no longer do this.

3) Missing inventory is a huge issue. Ever try to rez something and it tells you that it could not rez the item but it doesn't put it back into inventory? I have lost at least 20k worth of re-sellable items this way. I had brought this up when there was still live help. I was told the same as everyone else. Clear cache and reboot. When that didn't work all I got was...So sorry you are sol.

4) I have had serious issues with lag on my sim. I have tried to get help for at least 4 months. I have to thank Lexie Linden for trying so hard to help me and being patient with me when I lost my cool. Still has not been resolved.

5) One of the most disturbing issues I have had was the night I had my baby in SL. I tried to take her out of inventory and I got the could not rez object issue. BUT she was returned to inventory. The next morning I went to take her out and she was gone. I sent in a bug report the next day thinking that it was a lag issue and she would come back on her own. When that did not happen I contacted live help. Guess what they told me. Clear cache and reboot. Nothing. Then I was told to do a bug report. This was April 11th. It is now May 7th and I never heard anything from the Lindens. I am very grateful to the people at the Bundle of Joy clinic for having a copy and giving me my baby back!

6) Sunday's! Has anyone ever noticed that SL is mud on Sunday's? Last night I couldn't move, tp or log out with out going through task manager to shut down. SL is more interested in bringing in new people that they are ignoring the fact that they can not handle it. What about the people who have been here for years? They stopped caring about ME.

7) Charter members who have left the game years ago still have land that can not be turned over. I have all of Gogebic but one 512 plot. This woman is no longer in world. If she is she does not respond to messages and has not updated a single thing in her profile in 1.5 years. I have gone to the Lindens many times about this. Guy Linden keeps telling me they can not discuss other accounts and there is nothing they can do. If an account is more then 1 year inactive they should close it.

The truth is I love Second Life. But I am paying $195.00 a month and getting very little in return. Most days I can't even enjoy myself due to downtime, server issues, rolling restarts, lag, group chats not working, not being able to build, friends lists not working, and tp issues.

If the company I work for did not respond to our customers we would be out of business. I truly hope Linden Labs will work on improving their customer service issues, because people are getting very angry. Does anyone at Linden Labs care?

quite easy on the sim issues its a class 3 or class 4 if your only paying 195 a month.

mostlikely they won't do much other then tell you to upgrade to a class 5.. I can tell you class 5 runs a hell of alot better.

and as to the bugs im fed up with it also.

my firend lost over half of her inventory when LL did that data move weeks ago. They have done nothing for she it took over 2 weeks and 4 mails, Before she got a reply. It was some lame ass reply saying to clear cache. As if after 2 weeks the items are going to magicly show back up when she clears cache every relog.

LL has some really stupid people working for them.

Now with this verification ordeal. LL is going to crash and burn.

Thats not always true with class 5 it only mean you have 2 more GB of Memory......I know many Class 5 that have many many issues ( not including all the issues that is bugging sl these days )


1.) Failed Teleports

2.) Scripted objects don`t run

3.) Sim shutting down for no reason

4.) Objects not rezzing

5.) Lost objects

ETC ETC ETC........

These days no matter what your paying on SL and the the active scripts taht are running YOU will have problems.

Ain't that the truth I went non-pay atleast a year ago. Then took a vacation from second life . Only to log in and actually find it laged even more lol. Funny part is the word is getting out. Tried to get a friend of mine to open up an arcande with popups to a game site. Got laughed at being told sl was lag fodder junk. That they could get more subscribers from a tradional java site. Sad When I first started was so nice ..could move around decently everything worked great. *sigh* always happens when people try and fix something that is not broke.

Many believe since Sl is new unknown grounds of VR. This is to be expected, but to what limits do we have to deal with lag, crashing, breakdowns etc...

If you know this that the aging asset servers are so so unstable. Its nowonder we are having such nightmarish issues look at all the freebie accounts that LLABs is giving away and sucking worse then my EX BF. I lost off the base base many many scripts! Now what did LLABS say about this..Nothing but Sorry but we will be improving this by adding Voice CHat BLA BLA BLA!.................What makes things worse is JIRA or that rat maze of a bug reporting systems..........

On a forum i frequent ( about motorbikes ) somone put a post up asking if anyone ever heard
of SL, and shortly after 4 or 5 peopel replied saying how unstable and utter s*** SL was that they couldnt move around because of low fps and crashing teleports etc and although i wanted to i couldnt disagree with them as its totally true, SL is getting a bad reputation especially on the support front.


i wondered earlier :
40,000 logged in to SL
how many LL employees are there ? maybe 100 ? 200 ?
how many of them LL employees handle customer support ? 10 ?
i kind of came to the conclusion that SL is vastly understaffed which is why
support is pretty much nonexistant.

i feel sorry for LL, i think they have a great product but are a victim of their own success
and cant handle recent growth as they were not as bad as this 6 month ago.

Wait until June when kids are out of school. If you think its bad now what until then......with over 40,000 logins getting in i wonder if we have even worse problem when we start reaching 45,000 and over. well of course 25,000 or more AFK many free money ( yea right free money :rolleyes: )

The failed teleports, lost objects and other related bugs are do to network issues and an over loaded data system.

I can tell you class 5 sims run alot better then class 3 and class 4, Im reffering to island estates not mainland. I should know as I own 8 island estates.

BTW for your info it wasn't until late november of 06 that the class 5's were put into aiction.

There are many problems associated with the Class 3 servers, saying that a class 5 server is better because it has 2gb of ram, is a falsehood. The class 5 servers actually host more than 1 SIM, unlike the class 3, so the ratios of available memory is divided. The CPU (although greater in power) and the system ram is in fact shared, it is not an equal division, its dynamic and load balances itself.

A class 3 server, although older could be made better is all the junk like burried scripts and dead prims were cleared regularily and the server wasn't over burdened with so many very large (1024x1024) textures applied to a door knob, were reduced to a more sensible size, old textures were revamped/renewed, there could be greater improvements to freshen the data in the asset and sim servers. Maybe it is time for that spring clean after all?

I am fortunate in that I do not suffer many of the issues I read on the forums and I am saddened for those that do suffer. The few times I do have severe lag on a sim, I got to the reporting facilities built into the client (Ctrl+Shift+1, 2, 3, 4 and 9) and look at the warnings the client gives off about failed host textures.. 100kbs pending download, huge textures everywhere, 1,000's of active scripts and objects.. also turn on script and active objects beacons and wander around looking at the spiders web of elements likely to be causing lag and failed downloads...... so I just leave.

Turn off Autoscale in the media tab.. that alone causes a 25% load to UpDateTexture and it not required if your textures are aligned correctly. Turn off 'AllBright' on textures other than media textures, and setup your client correctly, remove the junk that has accumilated in the inventory.. don't run lots of vendor scripts...
