I am so glad you started to support PNG images, and their use of transparencies.

That will make it so much easier for people to make windows and the such, with out having to need custom alpha channels.

I added to a thread about the poor selection of graphic formats in SL, one of my formats in my wish list was PNG's. Some 'expert' shouted me down and said I was an old timer website creator and PNG has no place in a VR platform like SL... lol.. well guess you shouldn't discount wisdom for old age.... (mumbles under breath about whippersnappers) :p WTG LL, at last something new thats useful.

WTG LL, at last something new thats useful.
Actually it was a resident who implemented that:
From: someone
Peekay Semyorka added the ability to upload textures in PNG format (they’re still converted to JPEG-2000, but you no longer need to do this by hand before uploading them).

I just saw that blog bit myself, I also feel like noting some of the others that either already happened or will come with 1.18 that I feel are notable:

Tharax Ferraris added a date tooltip, to help residents on the other side of the International Date Line.

Fremont Cunningham added a dialog that asks if you really meant to quit, for those of us who accidentally mash the wrong keys.

Dale Glass made it possible to visually distinguish objects that are talking only to you from objects that can be heard by everyone in range.

--I've been wanting that for AGES so I can yell at the creators for using llsay instead of llownersay for items I own.

Able Whitman made the “give money” dialog stand out visually from other dialogs, so residents will be less likely to click on it by accident.

Thraxis Epsilon added time and date stamps to chat logs.

--I hope this isn't like Yahoo IMs where it's either a full timestamp [dd/mm/yy hh:mm:ss] or nothing. I only need to see the date ONCE on chat start and again on date change.

Wow, what can we all say, but play homage to all those talented people that are working to make SL a place that LL should be making it.

They get my thanks for reading the forums and having the insight to what is really useful things.

Also credit where its due, to LL for actually openning their minds and actually allowing this to happen.
