Up until now I haven't seen the need to complain, but 1.13 is shaping up more and more as being one of the worst patches I've ever seen released for SL.
Right now, I can't even detach/attach objects to my avatar. I can't even teleport to many places. I can't even do a search for places..although I can search for people. It's not unusual for me since 1.13 to have more than one attempt at logging into SL.
Lindens, you seriously need to do a much better job of quality assurance than you did for 1.13 because frankly it doesn't look like you did much of a job of QA assurance on that patch.
I logged on after a delay...and all I could see of my avatar was my hair, necklace, earrings and shoes. Woohoo ! I'm the Invisible Woman !

And for good reason. This is the FIRST TIME a "patch" has effectively prevented me from logging in, left my clothing textures present and done just about everything to me all at once that everyone else has been complaining about.
Frankly, this is worse than the grid going up and down - because it appears to be happening on my end and I have no proof that the servers are dumping me. I keep lagging off the grid, yet my connection reports all's fine.
I keep losing textures. Searches take up to HOURS to complete for a SINGLE NAME. My inventory takes upwards of 15 minutes to load. Objects "Fail to rez". Teleporting isn't working half the time. The client inexplicitly "hangs" on occasion, only to resume with me up against a wall half the sim away from where I started. I keep falling through the ground. I STILL see packet loss that was supposedly fixed 3 major updates ago.
However, I have: 1: Reinstalled Windows, 2: Reinstalled SecondLife, 3: Cleared SL's cache, 4: Upgraded video card and drivers, 5: Rolled back drivers, 6: Relogged, 7: Benchmark/burn-in tested the local-area network AND internet connection, 8: Installed QoS and miniport drivers for the networking in the house, 9: Installed bandwidth monitors (NOT internet caching hardware - those cause problems), and last but not least, 10: Even tried doing this from a friends' house and STILL get the same thing.
Needless to say, this "update" has left another bitter taste in my mouth, and while I can't prove it's on the Linden's end, I CAN prove that it's not on my end. Process of elimination - If all known factors are eliminated, whatever's left over, no matter how improbable, must be the solution.

They really just need to reset the game back to the last update. They alweys add extra crap in with the updates that people dont want or need, and it alweys causes problems. The last thing they need to do right now is add yet another update since that will most likely end up with even more problems.

They really need to get some management with a clue to run SL - and a competent outside development team. What we are seeing here is the messy end of a couple of years sf self indulgence by a bunch of amateur managment and a cosseted 'do what you like' development team.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

no they haveto stop saying the problem is solved, or anything say that any issue is solved.. ITS A JINX!! When ever anyone says SL is running fine, it acts up just don't say its running fine anymore and it will run smoothly

I totally agree with these posters: I am having numerous serious problems with lagging, tp, inventory, system crashes, etc. I have filed 'live help' requests and received no answers (did they even receive them?). Since SL 'stabilized' the grid yesterday, the games has been unable to be playable...and, believe me, I have spent hours just trying to patiently play it. So, yes, now I am ranting!!!! The problem is definitely not my pc or connections at my end. SL, please pay attention to us! Whew, I feel a little better now

The real problem
12-03-2006 23:52
I still truly believe that the real problem with SL is that they simply lack the hardware infrastructure to handle 16000+ people in world at the same time. I notice a HUGE difference when I go in world before work in the morning when there are about 7000 fewer people around.
Get the hardware to support the number of subscribers you have in world on a regular basis.
Please.

I really think the load on the grid is responsible for the issues. Yesterday there were almost 18000 people online. So expect it to get worse with the uncontrolled new account signups.

Christ, I feel like I'm paying to beta test a product that's in development. I've only been on SL for a couple of months, but so far it's only gotten progressively worse to play. Terrible lag, areas (even my small underfurnished apartment) taking countless minutes to rez, profiles and the map taking upwards of five minutes to come up, search not working, and teleport not working half the time. And to top it off, last night my fiancé lost 90% of her inventory. Get your shit together Linden. If things don't turn around soon I will be withdrawing my paid account.

I have asked before - a couple of months ago, I think - if more or better machines could help.
Torley assured me they could not.
But I think that is wrong - I think more and better machines DO help when you have more people on.

Whether or not more machines would help depends on how LL has set up their infrastructure, unfortunately. From apprearances, it looks like they can throw hardware at sims but not at centralized resources (searching, inventory, object state, etc.).
If it were as simple as bringing new machines online, I'm sure that they would already have done so.

I keep getting these TP issues, login issues.. Whenever I attempted to login twice today it gave a dialog saying "Your account cannot login at this time, you can try again at <time>".
The major problem that erks me is the CPU usage.. on a 2Ghz CPU it uses 98% .. and that is having a 1GB cache. The whole SL Client should be worked on extremely, not being a simple windows app. Q: Is SL Client made from .NET framework? Seams like it.
I agree with people wanting a rollback until they can do the REAL repairs and stop worrying about useless features.
Another issue I hate: The tier fees going up. I'm sure LL makes enough money to not worry about raising rates, this alone makes people not want to own land. In my opinion it's dumb to even charge tier fees to people who don't own sims, and just small parcels.
Think about that for a moment, a good server from a rental company such as ThePlant would alone save us, the consumers.. some cash.
Regards.

Same problem here with logging in, tells me to do it at a certain time, i try then get the same thing but to try again at a later time, i am not spending money for this crap (sorry) but since i am paying on a monthly basis and then some I demand the product to at least work. I have lost many items that i spend my hard earned linden dollars on, i go bald on occassion when i have my hair attached, this is uncalled for! I can't cross sims anymore, it leaves me flying for 2 minutes then tells me it can't teleport me. Very annoying since I'm close to a sim border so crossing it accidentally is quite common.
