...Or, are alot of SL accounts being hacked into and taken over? Because I've been recently seeing a lot of people who are claiming they're being hacked into and stuff are dissapearing.
Some tips to fix this:
Change your password every 72 days or 2.5 months
Never give out any type of personal info related to your password
And, obviously, never give your password, to anyone, no matter how close you are to them.
[17:40] Drake Avis: hey [17:40] Drake Avis: wheres yoko [17:40] Drake Avis: i wanna rape her
Sorta like that eprson, some are telling me he's bein hacked
Edit:
On a side note, do you find it unfair that LL has left basic accounts behind to fend for themselves?

I'm not sure what you think LL might be hiding. Is it that you think maybe LL knows they are being hacked and not telling us? I suppose that's possible but I highly doubt it......way too much at stake for a company doing international business. So I'm left wondering what it is that you are asking. I think you might be correct about people having their accounts abused by others. People can often guess someone's password after getting to know them. No big trick to log in as someone else's avi and raise hell with their account once you know someone's password........but really, not many people would do such a thing. But, that's not hacking.......that's simply illegally logging into someone elses account. Once there all kinds of mischief can be had. So your suggestions for safeguarding your password are important things everyone should do to help minimize that possibility. I just dont' think LL has been hacked into in the real sense of the platform being compromised and everyone being in danger of ID theft or real money taken. I think LL would pull the plug on the pipelines if necessary to prevent such a thing from happening. And on your side question: No, I don't think it's unfair that basic accounts (free accounts) are "left behind". Most games or platforms like SL have basic accounts......those accounts are restricted in some way. Usually by what that account can or cannot do while using the service. LL does not restrict basics on what they are allowed to do.........they restrict them to a very low level of support instead. As long as you never need any help ingame you can do everything even the highest paying sim or island owner can do (except own land on a continent). So basics not having the support level that premiums or sim/island owners have is not being "left behind".........it's just you don't get everything for free (you have to pay somewhere along the line). My problem is.............I'm premium and I have just about the same level of support as a basic. But, at least, I feel I can bitch about it.

Thats the way to look at it! In the end, its just a game. What you invest you invest with risk.
I HIGHLY doubt its been hacked, however, inventory loss is becoming more common do to bugs that manage to worm their way into the code.
Guessing passwords? I could run a libsl bot that'll guess your passed, up to 15 unicode characers long in under 30 minutes. Anyone can, its a risk you take.

From: Peggy Paperdoll My problem is.............I'm premium and I have just about the same level of support as a basic. But, at least, I feel I can bitch about it. No, not really. You ever looked at the (short) list of things basic accounts can contact LL about? * I'm trying to create an account and it won't let me. * Second Life tells me I can't access it from this computer. * My account has been shut off and I have no idea why; my account page doesn't give me any clues. * I need to report a region being offline. * I'm an estate manager and I need to request a rollback. * I would like to request a LindeX tier review. Great. What about "Paypal just said I paid LL $4.08 for 'Second Life Membership'"? (suport page does not indicate how one reports a billing issue) What about "I'd like to report a grid attack and I'm NOT an estate owner? What about "I'd like to report a grid attack that just forced a region restart and the problem is still there when it comes back up (i.e. this sim could use a rollback to get rid of the 400 physical cubes causing MASSIVE sim-side lag)?

Does this answer that question at all? It is from this mornings Linden Blog. (read below) I am not quite sure if this means personal inventory or not. I just know that in the last couple of days when I have tried to dress, I get a pop-up sign that the object is not in the data base. So far not a big problem because it has just been my left shoe.
Network connectivity problem

Approximately 400 or so regions on the Main Second Life lost network connectivity for a short period of time this evening. The operations team had hoped to fix this swiftly, but some content may have been lost before the problem was resolved.
(mmm they just arrested OJ)

Hacking of accounts is perhaps not such a dead thing... given the exploit alert in the Blogs of late.. telling everyone to uncheck the 'remember password' and not to use SLURL functions from websites, apparently using those, gives access to your passwords stored on your cache to anyone introducing a bit of code into the webpage where the link is hosted.
Any platform reporting millions of dollars tunover from a few thousand users, is always going to attract would be freeloader theives and make us all targets.

This all brings into mind, "Who will watch the watchment?" which is quoted from Plato in the "Republic". And if ya dont understand it, it just means, who's watching LL from screwing us all over? I know someone who had an issue with LL billing, their account was dropped to -$400 USD, while that's not totally LL's fault, it is because LL didn't bill him as he made the transactions, it dropped him all of it at once. I've seen beta games run better than this with smaller staffing -.-
