I've noticed that the text in certain parts of the UI is blurry. The chat window, inventory, and several other places looks really bad if I have antialiasing turned on. Most other text looks perfect. This is with SL 1.19.0.5, on an Nvidia 7600GS with the Forceware 163.75 drivers. I've got AA set to 8s, and SL looks great with all options turned up. Problem is text in certain places looks terrible. I'm scared to try anything later than the 163.75 drivers since it appears Nvidia still hasn't fixed the GLSL shaders in later versions of forceware (preventing a nuber of options from being available.) Any work-around that anyone has found to get all the text looking good? This is on my wife's computer, and she prefers to run at a relatively low rez (1024x76 .

If you run SL in a window, that may cause sync issues with graphic programmes rendering text as it becomes scaleable. SL does not use TTF. However, either way, have you tried reducing the UI scale to around 0.90 (try different adjustments to suit your own resolution).

I just want to point out that Anti-Aliasing MAKES THINGS FUZZY. That's the whole point. Yes, maybe the client is blurring rather than AA'ing text, but AA gradients the edge pixels. Aliasing is a distortion caused by the rastorization process whereby things look bad. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliasingand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Font_rasterization

Draco, I am aware of how AA works.
Within the same UI window, some text is very blurry, some is very sharp. For example, the title of the chat window is sharp, the contents of the chat winow is blurry. It is like that throughout the UI with AA turned on.
On the login window, the text above the login fields (First name, Last name) is blurry, everything else is sharp.
It is consistent about what is and what isn't blurry, but doesn't make sense as to why... it all appears to be the same font.
AWM's suggestion about adjusting UI scale makes sense. It may be all the scalable text is handled in a different manner than non scalable text.
It recalls a bug report from more than a year ago about the same issue, but in that report, it was supposedly fixed.
No wonder SL doesn't provide for AA control within the program itself.... it brings a whole other bunch of bugs to the foreground.

Her text is perfectly sharp again with 8x AA turned on after bumping UI scale. Thanks

I had that problem too with my 7600gs, bumped the AA to 2x and it is fine now. You might want to look at a nHancer - www.nhancer.com - it is an "Advanced Control Panel and Profile Editor for nVidia cards" and explains the settings much better than the stock version. I also pushed the Auto adjustment button on the monitor.
