I am seeing the most gray textures since 1.6.
It's terrible.
Is this happening generally?
This change in grayness happened Feb 22, 07.

Things have not been right since Jan 10th update. I think it may be when they expanded the servers to the second location in Texas. I would bet my SecondLife that they are working on it and we will see it fixed in a couple of months.

It's just a wild guess but if it has been 43 days and things are getting worse it will take another 43 days to get it fixed and while things are not working right they might as well make any changes that they had in the planning stages at the same time so that will add a couple of weeks so Im guessing 60 days.

My new plague of gray textures is only a few days old. I just told Windows Defender to exclude the Second Life cache folder and other related folders from it's scan, maybe that will help with texture loading time. Not to suggest this has anything to do with my current gray texture problem. It could be the network problems they are having currently are the culprit. Texture loading is not one of the symptoms they suggest the current network problems causing, but maybe they just forgot to mention one. I've been waiting a few months for things to get fixed for several years now; it wears thin at times. Perhaps in another few years I'll have learned how to manage my expectations a bit better.

Made me laugh.

This grayness persists.
I'm using the First Look viewer, which until recently was letting one have up to 10 gigs of cache. Now it's limited to 1 gig like the normal client.
I wish I could tell what the cause is.

Scan the First Look forum. I saw that they found that having too large a cache caused a problem.

No. If it's 43 days and it's not fixed, then no one there knows what the hell they're doing, period, case closed. This should come as absolutely no surprise. Why they're not able to find anyone who knows what Veritas Volume Replicator or a Message Parsing Interface is, is entirely beyond me. Either they're cheap, or stupid, or both.

The gray is real bad now.
Second Life is supposed to be a persistent virtual world. It's not only supposed to look three dimensional, it's supposed to give you the impression that it exists continuously, not that it's a figment that's redrawn every time you look in a new direction.
When the textures take this long I'd have to say that to say that Second Life is failing; it's not giving me a sense of being in a persistent virtual world, there's no way I can stretch my imagination enough to think that I'm in a world at all, the objects one sees in world have textures the instant you see them, not thirty seconds or ten minutes later.
