1.7 changes to land editing?

In the preview zone where you could buy land, I found that you could edit it to +/-20m. This is as opposed to the rather pathetic +/-4m that the new sims allow.

Is this just this way for testing, or is this an intended feature for 1.7 globaly?

These are sims like this on the main grid, they are know as fully terraformable and some have different limits, you have to buy land in these sims to get the limits, which can be seen here

Yes. I am aware of that. I was asking if what is on the 1.7 grid is what is intendid for the live grid at some point, or just that way for testing.

As with the previous preview, No purchases land or object will be carried back to the main grid, This is to stop people spending all the money on uploading texture and hoping they will be send back to the main grid lol

Again, that has nothing to do wtih that I was asking.

I was asking: was this (+/-20m editability of land) something they were considering as a 1.7 change to the main grid, or was it just there for testing.

That has nothing to do with carrying property over. I'm not sure where that came from.

With all due respect i cant answer your question any further, i've already posted above that this is already available on the main grid and given a page to show you what sim you need to be in to get the extra limits, most of the sims in the list are actually +/- 40m editable

I think you mistake +/- 20 for a part of the 1.7 preview. It's not. I think it's based on the configuration of the sim they used for the preview.

This has no relevance to the main grid as once 1.7 is rolled out, the height terraform limits of the sims now deployed will stay the same. There is a chart of these somewhere, which I think someone already posted in this thread.

WhiteFire, I don't have the answer, but you should ask a linden. I have a feeling it was for here only...but who knows...?. Isn't it amazing how a simple question can be so confusing...? lol.

There is only one sim in 1.6..that shows +/- 20 meters, and that is Avalon..don't see that in the preview..., so you have an interesting question...

Avalon's an isle that made history in SL, and ayuh... I'd ask on the Hotline To Linden forumthing. Right here.

Maybe this is the cause of the confusion here. This question was not directed to you?

I kinda assumed that the Lindens read the 1.7 preview forum, so the question was mostly directed to them. I didn't post it to other forums (such as the hotline) because I felt this forum was more directly relivant to questions relating to the 1.7 preview.

No worries—Nathan's championed a lot of productive testing for the 1.7 prev and he's done some good work. He's just wanting to be of help. :)

Lindens are reading this forum but Hotline To Linden is like a "spotlight" because there is/will be so much to go through; certain issues that come up here will be asked there for further clarification.

Cheerio!

Thanks torley, Has been alot of work over the last 6 weeks or so.

As far as these sims in 1.7 they are part of the earlier set of terraformable sims as listed in the page posted above, and yes on the main grid these are also terraformable, if you are able to get land on them, along with the list there are 48 terraformable sims i believe only a fraction are linden only and most are residential if you can get your hands on them, they are rather exclusive many being the sims that started sl's presence, the newer limits are here to stay i believe, thats a questions that been asked many times in the hotline, but i believe the most common answer is that it gives a good balance with landscaping and trying to maintain the feel of the sim as developed.
