Anyone else miss Account History?

Maybe the blow-by-blow unsummarized raw version of everything ever bought, sold, or exchanged on SL on a given day is useful to some people, but it really isn't to me beyond the one item in my store that I actually track the sales of. I really liked being able to just hit the button and make sure I wasn't overspending my budget or see how much I had spent total in uploads, or how much I have made so far this week. I don't like dinking with a spreadsheet and/or a calculator for two hours to find this information out the hard way. I don't do this for a living. I'm not into keeping huge detailed sales records and writing up my own reports on them like a professional. I just want to have fun with the store and not worry about whether I can buy a dress because then I might not be able to cover my tier. Am I alone in this?

I'm not sure what your exact question is Mae, can you clarify?

I'm wondering whether I'm the only person here who's disliking the fact that we no longer have any sort of summary for our L$ cash flow, whether it be in-world or on the website. If we want to know how much is going in or out or what the L$ is going to (uploads vs. classifieds vs. just buying stuff in world) we have to sit down and find each little entry in the often-very-long account history they provide on the site now and enter the stuff into a calculator by hand, or figure out how to set up some spreadsheet to do it... somehow. It was just very convenient and useful and, to me at least, even *necessary*. This is the feedback forum, this is my feedback. I'd really prefer they reinstate some sort of summary, somewhere.

I don't mind not having the summary in the viewer, I would just like to see the daily totals that we used to have in the viewer, available on the website too. I have sent a nice email to some Lindens requesting this and I suggest everyone else does the same.

hmmm Jira....

I really do not understand why the client cannot be made to hit the same data source as the web page in order to provide us with exactly the same information we have always seen in the Account History in-world. I understand the need to reduce the database load, but how in heavens does moving this from the client to web going to do this?

Having it out of the client, means fewer people will check it and less often than they used to because it's inconvenient (or causes the client to just crash in my case), leading to less load.

Also, the transaction history on the site is most likely not a live database tied into the grid, so if there are any load problems they can just stop live transactions from propagating and balance the load by having it updated less frequently, or not at all until things improve (non-techy guess).

With the announcement of the "enhanced" website they're working on, I think we can look forward to checking our friends list on the site, sending and receive IMs from the site, tp from the site, and manage inventory from there as well. This will lead to a lag-free, if not very useful, SL experience :p.

Reminds me of a friend who can play Counter Strike from the command line.
And I don't mean controlling a bot, I mean effectively writing the bot functions in real time.
And win.
He was nationally ranked prior to this and found no challenge in the game, so he moved to comand line, still kicked people's ass, so he quit.
I've asked for a demonstration, but he wasn't ready at the time and I haven't seen him since (I make it down to the commuters lounge at college about once a week and it's been a week and a half since I've been there and three since I've seen him).

Yes, but there is no reason that the client cannot use the same "off grid" data source. In any event, I am fine using the web page. I would just like to see a summary provided for moments when I want to glance at my sales for the day and see how I am doing. I hate doing math :)

I agree with Maegan. For me, it was the most useful thing in SL, besides the texture uploads. The convenience of clicking account history and the 'Details' tab, to show excact sales, payments and total income for that one day was awesome, and left more time to create new things, instead of using that valuable time trying to work out those figures.

Gahh, in my opinion, taking that out of SL was SL's biggest downfall.

Yes missing it a lot. Was very usefull and fast way to check on my sales for any given day and also the week. The claim go to website for more detailed view seems lacking as what we are presented with there is less details...
Id be happy enough to go to the website if it were set up in the same way as the in world account history was which was excellent.
