I have been trying to log into Second Life, and keep getting the error message "Unable to Connect to Second Life. Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. Please see www.secondlife.com/satus to see if there is a kown problem with the service"

Anyone else having problems getting in?

I cannot log in either, the status page says "The Second Life grid and the Second Life web site are open." though... (and yes: i have force-reloaded it).

I'm having the same problem when i try to log in.. i either get that error or one i been getting allot after i crash recently... When trying to log in i either get despite our best efforts show up or i get "Unable to connect to Second Life. DNS could not resolve the host name. Please verify you can connect to the www.secondlife.come web site. If you can, but continue to receive this error, please go to the support section and report this problem". for the 2nd problem i been having that off and on for a couple of weeks now and i have to clear SL cache, restart pc or repair and clean dns tables of nic card to get it to work again.. i never had the dns problem till about 2 or 3 weeks ago after the grid went down for Maintance or update i don't remember anymore..

Here's a guess as to why:

ONLY 30 THOUSAND people are trying to log in at once.

And? Is that our fault?
Who decided to close the whole grid at once a week increasing the load to what ever astronomic when opening it again?
Who decided to make an non-redundant network? And who dreamed about million customers online in SL at the same time??

Lindens are just a prove that a company is able develop and run worse software or services and can have more fluffy dreams about their coolness than Microsoft ever could in their worst days...

I was stupid enough to bring money into in SL... but I truly hope the alternatives to SL will be there some time. As soon as this happens, SL is dead for me...

The grid can handle 30-40k of people concurrently, but the LOGIN server isn't that powerful.
And shouldn't need to be.

And if you want compairison, I've watched WoW players trying to log in for an hour and a half after WoW updates.

WoW was never supposed to be a "second life" as the name says...
