Joined SL last week and am blown away by the concept. I joined just before the update, 1 day infact. My first experiance was great, but after the 1.7 update everything has gone crummy.
Everyone seems to be expieranceing the same issues. Im wondering, was it as slow and flickery and buggy as this before? where you able to move around smoothly before the update?
I have been trying to refer friends to the game. My mac friends, of witch there are few, seem to like me be able to get just enough fluidness to be able to explore, but all my PC friends say they cant move at all so think its a waist of time. Has SL really broke for ever? wil LL revert back to 1.6?

 It was reasonably smooth before, and I have full confidence we'll get back to that - it just may be another week or two before things stabalize. Historically speaking - just about every time we go thru a major update (1.7, 1.6, 1.5, etc) - everything goes awry, and its temporarily way worse than it was before. Then things settle down, and everyone is much happier. My advice: If you think the latest system troubles might scare your friends off, wait a couple more weeks before inviting them to check it out. _____________________

That's good to hear - I thought it was just my off-the-rack Dell that was the culprit.
In the meantime, is there at least a quicker way to change my avatar's appearance, since exploring isn't much of an option right now? Whenever I go to change the appearance, it cycles endlessly through crazy colors, and that slows things down considerably. Is there a way to turn this off? Sorry if this is a basic question - I just got here! =) |

I believe you may have found a bug... if you can figure out how to reproduce it on not only your pc and account but others I sugest sending a bug report in... well actualy I sugest sending one in anyway but it helps them if they know how its produced to fix. Sorry for your inability to function in the enviroment properly. Like its been said many times before its dew to the major release and its being temperamental _____________________

No need to apologize, it happens. The fact that SL exists at all is pretty awesome - I'm just eager to get to use it properly. Guess I'll have to sit tight for a week or two. |
