V. 1.6.0 (12)

Hi all,

I regret not getting to this sooner, as I had hoped, but I do understand that release notes are a new thing here. Thank you for bearing with me!

That said, with the little time I had, I culled what I could from the bug database from our 'fixed' and 'closed' list over the past 2 days. Please understand that there may be a few (not many) that slipped in that are actually for build 13...however I figured that getting this information to you all sooner than later is important.

Here's the list:

• Only the root prim of a linked attachment will play particles
• Jiggling the parent object causes the children to stray
• Double click on empty Muted Residents list crashes client
• You can modify text in read-only text boxes
• QuickTime streaming object turns untextured when leaving the parcel
• Avatar tracker stops tracking at the edge of your draw distance
• Jointed objects don't work
• Media texture is reloaded when audio URL on a parcel is changed
• Media URL is not updated when you change it on a parcel
• World map refers to calling cards
• UI allows renaming protected folders
• Delete key in script editor inserts a character
• Stretching a root object will cause child objects to move
• Other avatar is sometimes holding arm out after attaching an object
• Objects moved with the XY move tool raise or lower
• Can't physically grab children of linked physical object
• PARCEL_MEDIA_COMMAND_LOOP isn't playing sound with first click.
• Streaming video doesn't play if your avatar is sitting
• Make name bubble background grey variable opacity
• “Friends” window scrolls to top of list when someone logs in or out
• Scripted physical objects not moving smoothly in 1.6
• Uploading unexpected files causes client disconnect
• Movie sound still heard when not on parcel
• Objects do not snap to grid
• ALT+F4 doesn't close application
• Calling card filter still shows some cards
• Edit Window disappears if you use any of the arrow keys to move
• IM not showing online status
• Need a couple of extra media script commands
• Select Texture feature doesn't de-select when Position is selected
• Strange character after "object" in the abuse reporter
• Groups/Invite/Choose Person: empty search says 'Searching...'
• I-beam cursor persists over text editor scroll buttons
• Granted Modify Rights changes are not indicated until AFTER you close the Friends Window
• When you resize the Pick: Texture window in Edit mode, the texture itself gets larger, but the browser on the right does not
• Shortcut keys for Uploading Sound/Image/Sound/Bulk files are no longer available
• Report Bug window doesn't provide enough room or detail to file good bug reports

I will try to do this for you, time permitting, with each new build on Preview.

Thank you all!

One more thing...

I nearly forgot to mention that the ALT- key mappings have been substituted with CTRL-SHIFT-, to make the windows version compatible with the Mac version.

Vek.

Happy hunting!

There is a current bug in Far Clip - the skybox leaves artifacts - to avoid seeing this, select the 'Disable Far Clip' checkbox.

Thank you for doing this Vektor!

Question:

From: someone

What does this mean exactly? Is Alt+Click now Ctrl+Shift+Click instead to zoom? Or something else?

No, I meant for shortcut key combinations...sorry...for example, ALT-1 is now CTRL-SHIFT-1.

I don't get it. I have an "alt" on my Mac keyboard - it's otherwise known as the "option" key.

i don't see why there was a need for the change :P i rather liked having alt - something do something. And i don't like that ctrl - o is back.

I agree. Why was this changed? It seems unnecessary.

Macs interpret Alt+# as an extended ascii or unicode character. Currently in 1.5 this isn't an issue because of how keys and international support is (not) handled. However with the addition of international keyboard and language support in 1.6 this behavior on Macs is suddenly a problem.

While some people may not use ctrl-o (now ctrl-U for Upload instead of open), after removing it we received several complaints from people who did use it. Since it appears it is used we have re-enabled it, but changed it to a more appropriate key combination. At some point in the future a customizable key binding system will have to be implemented. When this happens disabling and changing key actions on a per user and per command basis will be possible.

Thanks for the explination. It will take some getting used to, but nothing too horrible.

This would be fantastic! Something hard to do? Possible to get into 1.7? :p

This is already possibly by editing one of the .ini files (can't remember its name right now, and SL is on a different computer). This is cumbersome on a Mac, as the file is stored in the SL application and so is removed with every upgrade, but it's possible to put it back each time.

Release notes for build 1.6 (13)
03-24-2005 16:56
Here is a list of fixed bugs:

* Missing a content page for "Buy L$..."
* Tiering up on account page fail silently if your billing is not set up
* Script permissions error messages should be IMd to owner
* Should not allow link of no-transfer to next owner no-copy
* Clicking Help/Message of the Day corrupted Av's texture
* Officers don't obey "Edit Land" flag on parcels
* Intel Extreme Workaround: Disable Auto Mip Map generation
* Streaming video doesn't play if your avatar is sitting
* Missing LineFeeds on chat pasted outside SL
* Warning stating Intel Extreme adapter 'not supported' should be removed
* The 'state entry' llOwnerSay did NOT work

Today some of you may notice asset lag / problems even on Preview. There is some behind the scenes work going on that should pass by end of day, so please be patient. The end results should be great.

Thank you all for the continued great work you are doing on Preview!! See you there!

I just tested the upside down particles bug on the build available today, and it's still there. Dan has a copy of a simple object that reproduces it.

I found the same, before logging in, go into preferences/general and select automatically detect hardware on next startup, apply, ok and restart preview.
