Phew and I thought it was just me. Doubled my RAM today up to 4GB, get online to my sim and after 45 mins I'm still waiting for all textures to load. Was almost panic striken that my RAM cards were screwed and then put it down to everybody logging on at once, which may still be the cause. But would be interesting to see how many more people are suffering this.
[EDIT] Have tried some other sims were texture loads were quicker, but all six I visited were variable and only one loaded in what I would consider a reasonable amount of time. |

Just logging in on the new version. Textures are taking forever for me too, but seem to be coming in gradually. What could cause this?

Ah Ha! I see what you mean. I just uploaded a custom texure--the texture upload seemed to go fine, but when I placed it, it was all grey. After a minute, however, it rezed.
So, there is a new thingie going on. _____________________

It looks like we blew through a bandwidth limit on one of our switches to the asset servers. We rebalanced some so things should be 'better' now. However we are still investigating *why* it happened, and asset requests do still seem higher than normal. It is unlikely the viewer is actually to blame, the problem is probably somewhere in the servers, either a code change or configuration change (message lib did include some configuration changes), or it is possible the asset server maintenance work flushed or invalidated some existing caches (And it's on the blog now, yay ![]() |

And the net result was time dialtions swinging too and fro, which indicates servers not syncing correctly and downloads timing out. If you press Ctrl+Shift+4 ingame, this brings up the client to server report, last night it was showing massive timeouts between servers and resending. BTW, press same key combination to remove this screen.
