I changed to some new monitors today and I noticed that when logged in to SL, they black out as if they're not getting a signal. Both monitors turn off simultaneously. After contacting Nvidia and rolling back to an older driver I was still having the problem. Sometimes I didn't get completely logged in and on one occassion I managed to stay in for over an hour and a half. So I decided to go back to my old monitors...same problem. It's only done it while logged in to SL and it just started today (after the update) so I'm guessing there's a bug in SL that's causing this. Hopefully they get it fixed ASAP cuz I'm starting to twitch.

'id check your 12volt connection on vid card if it use it might got knocked out, or psu/ power issue, well that would be my first guess, blacking out both screen doesnt bode well.

Cant think of a reason it would be update, unless youre on a really old driver, dont think you are tho.

You get the same with just 1 screen?, sl cant run on some dual screen setup unless its main screen, if its on other it blacks out things (opengl limitation on some vid cards)

( bode is a odd word o.o )

Maybe you'll need a new power supply, these cards tend to use quite a lot power.

As the other poster said - check your 12v connector - also check the PSU in your PC is up to the job - some of the cheaper PSU's around don't supply enough power on the 12v rail. The 6600GT needs at the very minimum a 400w PSU, but a decent one.

It could also be the GFX card overheating. Try powering your PC off overnight, then try logging in straight after you have booted up. If it works ok then for a little while, it's likely to be a cooling problem. If it is, make sure the fan on the GFX card is working ok and try taking the side off your case to see if the increased airflow helps. Unfortunately, it's possible that overheating has borked the card...

I run 3 systems off my router, with 2 'playing' SL at any one time together. When I log into SL the heat increases dramically from the systems. I use 7 fans in each system, including the PSU fan. When I begin to move about, the heat rises quite dynamically. I also use a room fan pointed at the systems, just to stop one side of my leg from being overly suntanned LOL..

I do run a 700-800 watt PSU's in all systems so power isnt an issue. Not only does the GC's temprature rise, also the CPU and the heat disapation from the HD's as well. I can run many other graphic intensive games without the effects described.

I've actually been running SL on this setup for over a year with no major issues at all. I'm aware of the glitches with SL and dual monitors and because of that I've always kept it on the main. I've got a 650w PSU and all my fans are running properly. The only 2 changes that were made were SL's update and different monitors. All settings were left the same. If it were the new monitors, I should have been able to go back to the old ones with no problems so I know it's not that. I actually left the system up overnight just to see if it would drop out and it's now been up for 13.5 hours and the monitors are still on. I'm gunna find another game to install (SL is the only game I play) and see if I'm able to run that without any issues.

Seems I was a little quick to draw my conclusion here. I ran other games just fine but after lots of testing under the advice of Nvidia's tech support, the verdict is that my video card decided it was time to start crapping out. Lovely timing on that one. :/
