Okay, for those of you who thought this would be another pissing and moaning thread about how SL doesn't work, this ain't it. You people who complain about SL crashing every ten minutes or so need to ditch the 486 and get a real computer. (Yeah, I know you don't REALLY have a 486, I just mentioned it for effect, okay?) And, no, I am not a quad-processor snob, who thinks anyone with anything less is about on a level with your average insect. In fact, I have a machine that is about on par with the minimum requirements for SL. And yet, I get around just fine, and SL crashes about once a month for me, usually when I am renaming things in the contents of a prim. For some reason, SL doesn't like to do this, at least on my machine. Sure, I would like SL to run better, and for things to load faster. You know how I could make that happen? I could buy a better video card, and/or a better CPU. RAM I gots lots.

For you people who seem to spend more time in the forums bitching about how SL won't run for you than you actually spend in SL, here's a newsflash: YOU NEED A BETTER COMPUTER! And if your reply to this is that you already have the latest hotrod, and SL STILL won't run, my response is "Get that virus-infected thing away from me!"

Anyway, I find server error messages like "The server is experiencing unexpected difficulties..." to be amusing. Sounds a bit redundant to me. I've certainly never seen an error message that said "Don't worry, we expected this to happen..." :)

Okay, now for a minor bit of bitching. When I started in SL, I had 1/4 the RAM, way less than 1/2 the processor speed, and a suck-o vid card. (This may have been the actual brand-name) And SL ran about the same as it does for me now.

So why does SL keep needing more and more resources from my computer? And yes, I know about Winlight, turning down draw distances, and all that other stuff. In fact, back in those days, I don't think we had all the options of turning things off, or down, or if we did, I didn't know about them.

Back in those days, the amount of people logged in was under 20K. I remember people complaining when the number of people logged on got to 25 or 26K. According to them, that was WAY too many. If only they could have known how many people would be logged on these days. :)
