For some reasons:

- If the left click action of a prim is set to Buy, an L$ icon appears on the mouse pointer when hovered over the prim.
- If the left click action of a prim is set to Pay, a pile of coins appears.

I think this could be confusing, for a couple of reasons:

- To a naive user, there is little practical difference between the Buy and Pay functions.
- Unlike the L$ icon, the pile of coins clearly represents a large amount of money, meaning users may believe items displaying it to be more expensive.
- Some users, having seen the L$ icon, may reason that since the other icon does not read "L$", it therefore does not refer to L$, and must refer to something else (possibly real money). This problem may be amplified by the fact that L$ does not come as coins, but real money does.

I'd therefore request that either the same icon be used for both or the prim's owner be given a choice of which icon to use (this should apply to the other features as well: for example, a teleporter icon could replace the chair for instant-unsit teleports that are click-to-sit)

Really one should indicate payments INTO the object, and one indicate payment in EXCHANGE for the object. Different arrows perhaps (e.g one pointing down for pay, and two parallel arrows pointing in different directions to indicate exchange for buy?)

That still wouldn't be adequate, because a lot of the objects using Pay are scripted vendors. To a non-techy user the distinction between a Buy vendor and a Pay vendor isn't important and doesn't really need to be emphasised. :)

I think all the icons need changing, they look like they came out of a game from the mid 90's lol

I think they have a kewl, crunchy Amiga flair to them--you should have seen the earlier prototype of the Open Contents box, it was WATERMELON-colored!

I would have wanted to live with that... forever.
