So far I prefer the new way. I couldn't make any sense of the previous layout at a glance.

I'm glad they've got this level of detail, but I'd like the three things I see under "details" be split up. I understand why people like it like this, but to me it makes it harder to consolidate the data into something like Excell. |

It does kind of make it harder to port over to a spreadsheet, though I personally think it looks better on-screen the new way, and have already written a one-off to convert the XML data anyways ![]() _____________________

The new format is pretty, but useless. I often need to scan down the list for a particular name, perhaps to help a customer with an issue. when everything was in neat columns, it was a breeze. Now I have to slow down to pick names out of the little paragraphs they've scrunched everything into. Maybe if they color coded each field, like Names red, transaction Green, etc. it wouldn't be so bad. But as it is now, it's pretty useless from a business standpoint.
But boy is it pretty. |

Maybe I'm missing something. *shrugs* *puzzles* ... and for anyone that spends time scanning a web page for ANY info, ctrl-f is your friend. ![]() |

I know it's available as an Ecell sheet, but I didn't check to see how it was laid out.

I also wonder why they bother to create a full blown Excel spreadsheet instead of just dumping the data out in CSV, since the spreadsheet they create doesn't give you more in Excel than a plain CSV would, and a CSV woudl work in more programs. |

well I usually use firefox's "CTRL-F" find command... to quickly locate a name on the transaction history... so I can't say if it's better or worse there..
but the table certainly is easy to read. are those totals at the bottom new? Hey.. can we have a NET total of the debits from the credits in the given time period? THAT would rule. _____________________

Having worked in tech support my suspicion would be that it's easier for the majority of people to just click on the .xls and open excel, because many will have never done anything like import a CSV. I can hear it now.. the file is broken.. etc, etc. Most programs will import an .xls seamlessly anyway (I use OO in both linux and win). So, my feeling is just for the ease of use by the masses, since that means less support required. Those of us that know what a CSV is, are unlikely to need LL's support in creating one from the data available.. and when you start giving comma seperated files, then you get the people that want tab seperated, or whatever. ![]() |

Hello Everyone! I am working on an web based solution to the horrible mess that is your transaction history on the SL web site. I'm in a somewhat early phase, but I couldn't stand the SL transaction history, so I decided to build my own tracking system. I am planning to make this an application available for rent in world at my store. I will allow an unlimited amount of storage, and several reports, including Profit & Loss, Income Detail, Expense Detail, Daily Totals, Product Sales Stats, Customer Purchase Stats, and more to come.
I'm looking for a couple of people to help test it out. If you're interested, please contact me in world. The site will be www.slacct.com |

Besides that, I don't like third party sites to ask me for my in-world password. It could mean a great transaction overview, but also a complete loss of my objects and money.
I don't accuse the maker of this site on forehand, I am only careful with my data. |

Sorry, I'm not a cheap skate. Just another developer trying to make and provide better tools for SL than what are provided. So what if I want to make some money off of my hard work? I do the same thing in SL. I work many hours on a script, then I sell it over and over again. How is that any different? People pay to use Quick Books or a similar app for managing their business finances. What is so different about my product? It's simply a way to get better reports from your sales/expenses for your SL business, and keep track of where your money is going, and coming from
This service does not require your SL password. Why in the world would I want a database full of passwords for people? Plus, it's against the TOS anyway. I'm not interested in that type of information. You simply import your transaction history, without balances, and it gives you the ability to see the reports. I'm not interested in your data. Only in providing good tools to residents, that are useful. And getting many people to use a product, along with their input, only makes the product better. Again, the same thing I do with my in-world products. Don't judge a book by its cover. |
