I’d like to extend an invitation to you to visit “Camp Darfur in Second Life” at http://slurl.com/secondlife/better world/225/250/25 and learn about the current crisis in Sudan. Also you can get information about upcoming demonstrations in Washington and San Francisco on April 30 at http://www.omidyar.net/group/sudancrisis/news/48/And join the Second Lifers over at Omidyar.net planning more Camp Darfur activities at http://www.omidyar.net/group/bwi/news/12Anyway, please check out Camp Darfur and post here to let us know what you think, if you have suggestions for improvements, etc. Thank you so much -

I might visit when you stop spamming the events list *everyday* with your non events. (Personally, I think people who do this should have some sort of action taken against them.)

It goes to show you right things done the wrong way and wrong things done for the right reason do now work. I suggest you reconsider how you appraoch the residents of SL. Non profits need to leanr just as for profits do, hoe to protect your brand image and kill it trying to reach your goals
Or as my daddy once said Gentleman overkill is still dead

Thank you for your comments about event postings. Your concerns are noted.
Anyone have thoughts about Camp Darfur itself?

Haney, I've visited the build several times, and I learn something new every time. I had never heard of the situation in the Sudan until I visited SL's Camp Darfur.
The only thing I did not see, and maybe I missed it, and would like to see, is a notecard dispenser that gives immediate information about the rl Camp Darfur.
Keep up the good, and important, work.

Thanks so much for that wonderful comment. I've passed along the suggestion.
Over the next few weeks we'll be revising the camp to make it more user friendly and provide clearer information -- so we appreciate any other ideas at this point.
We will also be addressing the concerns about listing too many events. We'd love to hear any ideas for alternative ways to spread the word as well.
Thanks for taking a look...

How about free-to-copy posters about the build (perhaps that give a landmark/notecard on touch) that residents can place on their own parcels? If there were such a thing, I'd display one at my shop, and I'm sure others would, too.
BTW, the Save Darfur wristband dispenser gives notecards, as do the wristbands themselves (on touch), all approved by savedarfur.org. I'd be happy to set up more of them if you think they'd be useful -- just drop me an IM.

What is it you think marches in SF and DC are going to do other than tie up traffic, jam the subways, fill the air with noxious bus exhaust, and litter the streets from the thousands of people who will throw their trash just bout anywhere? Perhaps we should bomb Khartoum again?

Isn't Darfur made by some headz from Omidyar? ( http://www.omidyar.net/search/?SearchableText=second+life) Don't they help back LL financially? I'd say don't bite the hand that feeds.

Kim - thanks for these ideas. I'll push them along. It turns out there are at least twelve demonstrations in the US that happen on Sunday and one in Toronto - US cities include: Austin, Boulder, Boca Raton, Eugene, Portland, Prescott, Seattle, Somerville, St. Paul and Tucson. http://savedarfur.org/rally/otherrallies.htmlOr try this link - http://www.ajws.org/index.cfm?section_id=2&sub_section_id=2&page_id=549

If anyone else is willing to display the teleport please let me know and I'll pass one along.
