Hello Second Life!

Newly rezzed and ready to play!

Very excited about this metaverse you guys have going here. I can't wait to see more.

A fun story to start out with

I was born today on Orientation Island 6!

After poking around a bit and then working through the first two orientation stations on appearance (I am now a blue-skinned alienesque temptress! Look out Captain Kirk!) I began sifting through these forums with Second Life idling in the background.

Eventually I checked back with the Second Life application and found that I had timed out from being idle too long, so I quit Second Life and continued to peruse the forums. I happened upon a link in this post /invalid_link.html which openned the Second Life application. When I connected I was about 3 squares away from Bolinas at the Montara Telehub.

Now here's the neat part:

Apparently because of how these events transpired I don't have a home point set! I can't go back to Orientation Island 6 and when I hit Teleport Home I am taken to a random square on the map (but always to 20, 20 of that random location)!

It's like I'm Dr. Sam Becket from Quantum Leap! If I'm ever bored I can just hit Teleport Home and end up in a new and exciting location to restart my adventures from.

I'm sure this is some sort of bug (But don't fix it! I like my random teleport button! )

A small sampling of the random locations I've teleported today:

Welcome, Intent Unknown! That's one of the best SL names I've heard yet. Take some snaps of some of the 20,20 locations you visit-- sounds like it'd make a pretty cool travel journal.

nice intro as well.. odd thing about those random teleports, eh? as far as i know, you should be sent to the WA (Welcome Area) you started at.. if indeed you started at one. (there are more than one now, right?)

anyhoo, sounds like a great optional feature for those without land. either get TPed to the WA or to some random location! love it!

i look forward to seeing where someone named "Intent Unknown" ends up going in SL.. metaphorically speaking, i mean.

I must say I wish I had a random teleport button

for now you only have yourself to guide you, the welcome area may be a place to start.
from there you can find many things to do and explore.

Today I discovered that my random teleport button came at the cost of missing out on Help Island. I haven't used the random teleporting too much today but I think it's a not a bad trade-off. I may have to learn some things on my own eventually, but I'm not really in learning mode yet as I'm still exploring.

I've had a nice second day of second lifing. I spent a good part of the day de-noobifying at various retail establishments throughout the grid:



Unfortuately this evening I was suckered in by an advertisement in the event calendar disguised as an event. To make matters worse, the event was listed in one of the Katrina relief sims being used for fund raising I was informed that the location was a mistake, but it was a non-event nonetheless and it shouldn't be in the event listings.

My trip to the Big Easy wasn't a complete disaster though. I met Margaret Mfume who took me on a biking tour of the entire project. I had a lovely time and got a new outfit! Thank you Margaret for the great tour and congratulations to everybody involved in Big Easy and Biloxi. If you haven't been out there yet it's worth the trip.

I've also become something of an activist in my spare time as well. I'm sure it's just a phase.

i wanna random TP all over..hmm i sorta do..i open the map and click onna Telehub before the map rezzez so i have no clue where i am going
but it still lands me at a hub so not as fun as yours!
