From: someone why is it i feel like the SL as a whole is shutting down??? The SL client has no multiuser persistent text. The SL client has no multi-line text entry, giving one the ability to enter paragraphs easily. The forums are those two things, persistent multi-user text with a big input area. These features need to be included in the SL client, and also be available on the web, with the hosting, and thus the costs of storing, moderating, etc., provided by residents and other non-Linden parties. Couple the forum closings with the database break-in and it does seem like a pretty bad time for Second Life to a forum user.
