Heh, neat timing...a really cool one (Sublime) just closed like, yesterday. Good luck, it's a tough business, and probably worse in SL.
Hey, you going to be needing a chef?

My thoughts

Just for grins, I'll toss in my L$0.02 about what I think would make for a great restaurant. Since we don't really have to eat or drink in SL (meaning there's no requirement for an actual consumable), hopefully the restaurant understands they are providing an experience, not a product. The goal is to have customers come, spend time (and I presume some Lindens on services) and leave thinking "Wow, that was fun, I want to do it again". Here are just some general ideas I have for you to consider. * Don't over-hire your waitstaff. One waiter/waitress can handle multiple tables, you don't want an overabundance of folks standing around generating lag/chat spam. Preferably, you can find folks that have some basic idea of food/beverage (to make the experience more "real" terminologies/concepts. * Keep the menu simple. Again, since there is no real production of food, the menu doesn't have to be extensive. Offer a couple of appetizers, entrees, salads, desserts. Don't neglect the bar/wine aspect of the dining experience. * Try to design your tables, etc around traffic flow, with the expectation that folks will be lagging. Try to plan easy routes to the tables/etc with no small choke-points. * If you are doing this to make money, then I suggest you study to be able to talk the talk of a food service provider well (you may already know this). The more you can give the feeling of a real restaurant, the better. And if you have any other questions, shoot me an IM

People do look for romantic places to go on dates. A romantic restaurant with good view and ambiance could make for a nice date experience. Gives you something to do with your avatars while chatting and getting to know each other.
I did find an nice little "dinner-theater" restaurant near the NE corner of the sim Rua, it may be just over the edge of Rua. Unfortunatly it was not open so I dont know much about it. Unfortunatly the "theater" part of the experience seemed to be a large video screen. Wouldnt it be great to actually have live performers acting on a little stage?
Also there is a place that specializes in making food, "Kitchen Korner" or something like that. They had 2 or 3 dinning tables set up on a deck, that was a nice small restaruant. I have not been there for awhile.

A nice restaurant would be good. But a good restaurant would be nice. The food sucks at all the restaurants in SL. Very bland. P2

Who do I call for reservations?

Put me on your grand opening list. Nothing like a romantic evening conversing over a candlelit restaurant table. And if the service is good, I tip well

Wine List
08-02-2006 11:25
Dearly Darling,
Make sure you have a good wine list...I agree with Pheonix, the food here is generic unless you are able to sneak into one of Baccara Rhode's parties.
It would be nice to have another spot to meet with folks you're not quite sure you want in your home.
Gook luck!!!
Ever Yours,
Mrs. Showdog Tiger

Sounds like a good idea, Sylinn and I haven't found many nice places to spend time in that weren't very laggy. Would be nice to go into a restaurant in sl that wasn't always empty with no staff. x.x
Also if that suggestion for our avatars to require food to function 100%, your restaurant would become very profitable.
Just don't forget the chocolate dipped strawberry's. <.<
And yeah put me on the list for when this goes live. =p
