Hi all, not sure this is the appropriate place to put this, and not even sure its connected, but I have recently received two emails from different 'banks' telling me that my password has been reset. Both emails are frauds. Its a phishing email aimed at getting your password for your bank account. The first one I received was around the 5th or so of September from "Bank One", the second I received today from "SunTrust". Both banks are legitimate, however the emails are not.

Just wanted to pass on a general warning to anyone that does do any type of banking online. You may want to check paypal as well to make sure all is ok there as well.

Was your address, phone number or name (the contact information you gave to Linden Lab) in these phishing emails?

None of my information was in the emails, but they had my email address. Thats why I said I do not even know if its related or not. Its just weird I got them both in the last two weeks. The email account in question is ONLY used for business, not personal. I have a separate email for friends and family. That is why both emails stood out. The first one could have been from Bank America instead of Bank One. It was the first I received and like a dummy I wrote and said I do not have an account with you. (DUH) Both emails read exactly the same. I only posted here in case it happens to others, as a general warning. I cannot say it came because of the issue SL is having, it could very well be a coincident.

I suspect that someone you know has a virus that sends those emails to everyone in their address book. I suspect that all of us has seen similar emails.

I get that stuff all the time. Every day. Lots of it. In with the Viagra ads and stock tips and pirate software ads there are always some phishing attempts. On every email account I have.

For those who use gmail, you can make filters that should help in avoiding having to see so much spam. There's a link that says "create filters" that I had either failed to ever click on or done so and forgotten about.

Here's a link on how to do more advanced Gmail filtering: http://www.gmailforums.com/lofiversion/index.php/t8199.html
