Was meant to be a joke, that I made an AA goup, but it didn't turn out to be one. People have actually asked if this group was real or not. I think it should be known, that it's officially real. I'd like people to join and get together regularly. Maybe once a week. I've had alot of trouble drinking. Maybe if we all got together, we could help fight against this habit. I sure know I could use the support.

I strongly suggest you seek support from your local chapter of AA if you think you have a problem. While the SL version you've created may seem like a good idea, it will never give you the kind of support that you will need.

Good luck.

AA Meeting

I've been in AA for over 10 years and by the grace of God haven’t had to have a drink in that time. I'm really new to this Second Life thing but I got to thinking about what I've seen in here and thought this might be a good place for a meeting.

After all, people from anywhere can get there, it really is anonymous, if people feel they might have a problem it would be a good place to visit with people who have experience with alcoholism and recovery.

No, as was pointed out a virtual meeting would never replace real life meetings, but they could help those of us who can't get to (or are still too afraid to) get to a regular meeting.

My own first experience with AA was through the recovery forums on the old CompuServe, there are a lot of people out there who think they might have a drinking problem but are afraid to talk to anyone about it, a SL meeting might be just what they need to get their answers.

For anyone reading this who is familiar with AA what I'm thinking of is what we call an "Open Meeting", it's for alcoholics and anyone interested in the AA program of recovery.

You will, of course, have to provide your own coffee. <G>
