It's been three days now. This is horrible!

There’s no food excepts rats, and the water was so stale so I was almost dying of thirst.

I’m really hungry, there’s was only one rat left today, and I don’t think I like the humans peoples much any mores.

I’m dirty, tired and I don’t want to be likes this.

Still hanging in... still sitting here with this little P266 machine and living on the forums. At least this little holiday has done wonders for my postcount.

With luck my replacement parts will be in on Monday or Tuesday and I can finally get back inworld.

Well, irony is a sword with many points.

When I recently got my Nvidia card a few months back, I dumped my old Radeon 9600SE into my second backup machine.

The second machine was an old Athlon 1100mhz with 768 megs of ram. I never thought it would ever run SL well enough to be worth trying.

Well, with all the time away from SL, I finally gave into curiosity and installed SL.

I logged in on my platform at 700m up over my store in Awa. Everything was silky smooth and wonderful. For the heck of it, I decided to teleport to Help Island and see how mad things were clouted.

I couldn't believe it.

Again, sitting in Help Island, in in a machine 1/3 the speed of my main machine, 3/4 the ram, and with Far Clip turned on and Draw Distance at 128... I got 20fps?!!

my main machine gets only perhaps 6FPS, and it's got a state of the art Nvidia card, more ram, 3x more CPU power. Even after I set my graphics prefs to be identical to my main machine's prefs - the improvement in my 4+ year old machine blew away my backup.

I don't get it.

It's not what else I have running, as the backup machine was running a virus checker, Yahoo AND MSN messenger, And MS Office's dockbar. My main machine usually just runs the virus checker.

This is like owning a drag car for 2 years and then finding out your 12-year-old VW beetle can do 0-120mph in 2 seconds flat.

My pc is not as powerful as your back up and I can run SL ok hehe

I've run SL on weaker machines. When everyone was getting killed by 1.7 lag, I was actually able to run SL on a "slow" computer. 4.9 fps is slow, but not bad considering the state of SL at the time.
