Fried my old PC last night, and it'll be awhile before I can swing another one. I'd appreciate it if someone would please let Elex know what happened. I have no other Grid access, so I'm pretty much hosed for the near future. I had a great time, and I wish you all well  -- jj |

I came in to post all pregnant with celestial fire, because I just went from bad news to super-yummy good news, with nary a stop off at "weird."
I decided last Friday to bite the bullet and look for a part time job, because
1. I really wanted a replaced/fixed/whatever PC as soon as possible, and
2. I've had it up to my nads with living on tuna fish and Cheetohs.
So, anyway, I think I found one. Not 100% sure yet, but it's looking pretty good. Second interview tonight.
So I email me faddah this morning when I get to work, telling him what's going on.
He emails back all fatherly-like, glad that things are going well, understands I'm working hard, admires my initiative and my industrious attitude, and oh, by the way,
his office just got some new Dells with digital flatscreens and he really likes them, and why don't I just head up to the Dell Website and spec out the SWEETEST FUCKING MACHINE I CAN IMAGINE, and send him the link to the shopping cart? Invidia, multi-gig RAM, whatever, but be sure to get a digital flat-panel with it, because he just got one, and all prior monitor technologies are officially camel dung in his sight, and his hard-working Firstborn shall have a digital flat, and camel-dung conventional monitors shall henceforth be unclean; yea, they shall be burned with fire outside the camp, and nothing shall grow there forever. Teh Faddah hath spoken.
I got this news about an hour ago, and I'm sitting here trying to remember if there's some policy against whacking the weasel on company property.
Short version: based on Dell's current shipping projections, looks like I should be hooked back up by around the 19th or 20th. My hours are still kind of up in the air...I may not be good for Word Hunt that often on weeknights...but I might be able to take over some of the last calls.
I'll let you know as things gel.
