As you may know, I built and run Nota Bene, SL's notary. The service promotes openness, honesty and clarity in dealings within SL. I feel that it's appropriate for me to let you know that in RL, today was my first day on the job at Linden Lab. I am newly employed there as a software developer.

The notary, and my SL existence as Zarf Vantongerloo, remain independent of Linden Lab. The in-world notary, and the off-world server it uses are still my personal property, maintained and operated by me, on my own time. Linden Lab has gained no access nor rights to any of it.

The security built into the notary is still just as strong, and prevents anyone, including me, a Linden, or even myself as a Linden, from tampering with notarized documents.

While this change in my RL will not affect the operation of the notary, I feel it is best to be up-front and honest about it. In return, I ask that you respect the distinction between my Zarf and Linden personas.

Thank you for your open disclosure zarf. I hope you enjoy the new gig. This certainly would not put me off using the service, should I have a need.

Ah - so you're an employee of Linden Lab?

And you are trying to make a distinction between yourself as an employee and yourself as a player of your' employers' game?

Zarf- congrats on the new Linden gig! hope it works out well for you. I know you've been in world for a while, and find you to be ever the decent guy. No reason to think that would change.

I visited the Notary yesterday. It looks fantastic!

Congratulations on your new role at LindenLab. Very encouraging to hear they nabbed another great thinker and person.

I'll see ya in world for some more jam sessions and poetry!
