About a week ago Ferran and I disappeared from SL. We were having an ISP problem... or in this case, political problems.

Many of you know that we live in Belize, and English speaking country in Central America. Belize has only one ISP which is run by the State. To make a long story short, some of the workers felt they should be given the company for free so they went on strike. This shut down the cel phones, landlines, data lines, internet, and ATMs. Having demonstrated their fitness to run the company by crippling the entire country, they were somewhat surprised when they were all fired, the police were called in, etc. That's when the sabotage started. The main electrical lines from Mexico cut, fiber optics cut, fires, looting, rioting. Makes Comcast look attractive doesn't it.

Service is still erratic with daily outages of either the internet or electricity. We will be in and out as we can.

I wanted to thank our customers for their patience. If I have missed any customer IMs due to capping, please drop me another IM. Also thanks to everyone who took care of Chaos for us in our absence... you guys are better than pitbulls. :D

Trouble in paradise, eh? :(

I hope it settles down for you soon.

I also hope that if I get my dream of moving into a small beach-side shack in Costa Rica, I won't have to put up with that sort of stuff. Maybe they'll have stratosphere satellites providing cheap wireless internet by then. ;)

Keep on swingin

Welcome back, you two! I wondered where you'd disappeared to. Chaos was so quiet.

Sounds like you're having an exciting time of it. Did you take any pictures?

I was in MAJOR lesbian withdrawal for a while, and let me tell you, I can't write a paragraph worth reading... thank gawd Surreal's back to write the text for SLBoutique, hehehe.

No more run on sentences like the last paragraph or fragments like this one!

I'm glad you're back, SL is far too normal with you!

Gee, I am REALLY shocked that this was not covered on the front page of an US "news"paper. However, I am pleased to report, Michael Jackson is still a TOTAL FUCK UP.

Thanks for posting that link. It covers what we know about the story pretty well. I'm sending it to my friends state side.

We still hve problems here although it seems to be dying back a bit. Sabotage to electrical systems seem to be the number one form of recreation.

We are in a quiet backwater (the nation's capitol) and have yet to see any direct trouble, but we still have no reliable connection to the outside world.

Only a month more and we head home anyway.

WOW! Amazing story and no, have not heard of any of this on the US news. Good luck to both of you and hope you are able to return to SL on a more regular basis. And someday I would love to hear more of your story! It sounds like an interesting life to say the least! :)
