I wrote a letter to the president of Clear Path International. They usually send medical supplies, provide money for education and grants for starting businesses to landmine victims in SE Asia. I mentioned that one of our members at KentHavershamp Enterprises was just interviewed in Rolling Stones magazine about their involvement in Second Life and that Clear Path might get interviewed as well if they became involved in SL.

I had seen videos on the internet of landmine victims in Southeast Asia that played traditional SEAsian music and thought if they gave a "live" performance in SL that would be very newsworthy and would be good PR for Clear Path raising awareness and possible attracting more donors. As it turns out the president loves the idea and is currently in SE Asia as we speak recording landmine victims bands. He was wondering if he could make something happen this month while he's there.

Naturally they need virtual instruments so I approached 10 vendors and they all said it's too much work on short notice so I got the idea that maybe they could just use "cardboard cutouts" of a photo that were life size to place on the stage until a better solution could be worked out. I've got two people working on it right now. I also spoke to Augren Ferguson of Zen Tao music who maintains an office in SL, he said that Robbie Dingo the insturment maker and music store owner has a cover article in SL Business Magazine for the month of August and that maybe I could write an article. Bali Hai has offered their stage as the venue.

Also, we at KentHavershamp know of a writer for wired.com which is a huge technology magazine who has an avatar in SL and recently interviewed one of our artists for the magazine. I contacted Kate Diamond about letting us use their relay server and contacted the virtual event promotion websites electrichseepcompany.com and aimeeweber.com. I had contacted Aimee Weber a long time ago about something but she never got back to me.

Would love ideas on how to make the landmine victims band concert to happen as quickly and effectively as possible.
