This is getting beyond absurd. I was in world talking to a friend and she appeared to have quite a few parts of her avatar missing. I logged out again thinking it would be just a few minutes. These unannounced grid takedowns must be causing some real problems for people. I have already had to cancel two meetings I had scheduled without being able to give people notice because I could not get back online. One of them was a support group meeting which the avatars count on being able to go to them for emotional support. The other was a meeting regarding rl business that is being conducted through sl.

I wonder how these educational institutions and companies that are using the sims for training will react when they get shut down in the middle of class or whaever.

If second life was only being used for a game it would be annoying enough but since it is being used for rl life things, it is more than just annoying.

I cannot log in again tonight and I have a meeting scheduled. That will be three strikes.

Hi Coreshadow, no doubt it really frustrates us too -- we've all got schedules and times we'd love to keep. This kept a number of Lindens wayyyy up late too. :*( Currently we're discussing ways to be more proactive to future grid attacks as well as publicly detailing our ongoing progress for the curious. I know the downtime gets very grating, annoying, tiresome, pisses people off, etc.

My deepest emotional resonance is with you on this, we totally hear you and understand the importance of keeping the grid up. More news to come on this as it emerges on our Official Linden Blog.
