Hello,

Not too long ago I bought some land and placed a wonderful house on it... and with all it decorating I have done on it, it is awesome.... I love it :).

But when I look outside, the land around my house is rather "raw". I would like to make there some nice grass... but I cannot find a clue who to do this. Is there somewhere documentation how you can change the "raw" land into nice grassland (for instance)???

Thank you in advance.

Morwen.

Why hello Morwen!

Okay, this is how you might simulate such a thing: each region (square of the grid on the map) has a set of texture swatches used to make the ground look grassy, sandy, rocky, etc. You can see what these are via WORLD menu ---> REGION/ESTATE ---> and press the TEXTURES tab.

You can't change these unless you own a private island. From what you're telling me, sounds like you live on the mainland, so you can't recolor the ground directly.

*However*, what you can do is use prims--primitive building blocks (rez one by right-clicking the ground, Create, and click)--and retexture them with grass or whatever you wish, and lay it down. You may have seen this done on some of the snow sims to the south (on the map, look at where it's mostly white and light blue, and look for swatches of green). It's not as "natural" looking, but it'll come closer to what you're going for.

The basic idea is: you're using your own objects to cover up the terrain, sort of like a rug.

I'm happy you're loving your house so much--all the best with the exterior decorating! :)
