Kelly - you posted this in regards to eltee's question on chronic simulator issues: From: Kelly Linden We think we have finally tracked down the largest cause of the 'net and images time' lag issues. These changes I believe are included in this coming weeks release. Would it be possible to confirm this before Wednesday, either here or in the release notes? This issue specifically is crushing us at the Shelter, and has been since at least 1.11 was released. I'd like to tell new people to sit tight, and that some relief is coming very soon - but don't want to say that if the fixes you're referring to haven't actually made it into this release. If it doesn't make it in, understood. Instead if you could shed some light on *why* the problem is happening, and if there are specific types of content we can remove in the mean time to alleviate it, it'd be much appreciated! Thanks!

We believe the problem is related to a couple of memory leaks that were introduced with or around 1.11. These memory leaks are large enough that eventually the memory footprint of the sims passes the amount of physical memory on the host. This causes swapping which degrades performance. Certain actions in the sim are more memory / io intensive than others which can cause spikes when they happen. Images and Net time are more io bound than the other stats tracked, which is why the slow down shows up there the most.
This is all great as a theory, but we *really* need real world load to be sure this is the whole problem. We won't know that until it is released on Wednesday. So in other words, no we can't really confirm this before Wednesdays release.
