Greetings, all. I've been a member of SL for quite some time now, though I've not spent any significant time signed in until this week. Hence, I have the experience of a newb and am currently learning...
Last night I purchased an item for $500 L. Like most clothing/attachments, it came packaged. I attempted to do the routine drag-to-floor from inventory in order to open the item. I heard the standard 'hissing' or 'rattle' sound that accompanies this process, but nothing appeared before me where I attempted to drop the box. Likewise, the box was gone from the inventory leaving only notecards behind. Knowing that there is sometimes a slight delay in the appearance of a package when moving from inventory to floor, I waited for a full minute or two-- to no avail. The item never appeared in my lost/found folder, and searches for it have turned up nothing in inventory.
An inquiry to SL Help resulted in them pointing me to the knowledge base, which was not at all helpful. I'm not overly concerned about the loss of a relatively insignificant amount of money (500 L), but would certainly like to learn what (if anything) I've done wrong to avoid encountering this issue in the future.
Is it possible that there was an extraordinarily long delay in the appearance of the package on the floor that I dragged from inventory? If so, is it possible for anyone else to come along and claim an item left behind... or would that simply just end up back in my lost/found?
For what it's worth, I might as well also alude to a separate issue that I experienced a few days ago. I purchased five or six t-shirts from the same vendor. Only two of them ever appeared in my inventory. Again, a search indicated that I do not own those items.
This can't be normal, as members would be uninclined to ever purchase more Lindens if buying an item is a mere hit or miss...
