Hi all,

Today the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (GovTrack: HR 4111) is only the presidents signature away from being enacted. It prohibits, amongst other limitations, US institutions to transfer funds related to online gambling. Providers of service for online gambling places seem to have the burden to shut these places down if asked by US institutions.

I am not sure if i understand the impact of this bill correctly. Gambling is very present on SL, several sims seem to be clearly designed to create profit from online gambling. Wouldn't the linden currency in this context be like a money equivalent game token? And isn't this new bill in the end an issue for LL as they transfer the profits made from gambling and the money used to place bets by customers as well?

As I am no expert in law, my question is, if this new bill will impact LL's procedures on money transfer or gambling in SL in general.

Thanks in advance,

prop
