Notecards, Spam, and You!

Upon receiving a notecard, why isn't the transaction as obvious as any other inventory exchange? Today I received several sets of several hundred one-line spam notecards smack in the face with something to the tune of, 'omg i own u noob say sry if u want spamm to stop 9 yr olds can't spek enlish vry gooder kthx!!!' I'm sure this is nothing new, but it still sucks pretty hard.

First of all, It seems rather ridiculous that we now have mute available for other types of inventory, yet notecards not only are automatically accepted, they also open themselves on arrival. There should be some sort of option to either accept them and NOT auto-open them, or a prompt.

Second, and on that note, inventory transfer prompts would potentially be even more annoying than notecard window spam (because you can just delete all the notecards from inventory to close their windows, while prompts must be clicked). I've never been spammed with actual prompts, I don't know if this could even happen for non-notecard inventory.

Third, it's equally absurd that so many inventory transfers can go through to an agent without more limitation by the server. I'm sure something is there, it just doesn't try hard enough, or is easily circumvented.

Finally, from a UI perspective, it would be nice to have an option to simultaneously close all current UI windows, minimize them, hide them, or some such.

NOTE: This goes for textures too. Joy.

...

On a completely unrelated note, lots of crashing whenever the texture picker opens. New with the update, or still unfixed from the last one? Dunno. PLS FIX.

Hello Tyken, let's hit the high points:

* Notecard spam sucks, and isn't allowed. Infact, we have a guide on how to mute them:

How do I stop notecard spam?

http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=092

The contents of notecards and textures pop up directly upon receipt to be quicker-accessible, but I totally understand the situation you're mentioning.

* XML UI will allow for greater UI flexibility such as what you describe. Sometimes when I want to enjoy unclutter, with Debug menu, I just push Ctrl-Alt-1 and roam the world.

* Not sure about your texture crash issues but please make sure to send in your crash logs--I'll be on the lookout for other Resis having the same prob.
