A fairly well known content creator (not Starax, for residents reading this, not that well known. ) was banned recently according to some of her friends, and her friends are making claim that it's because she had 'too many alts.' I find this incredibly unlikely, given the state of the registration system. However, the ToS does say you can only have 2 accounts per payment source, and 5 accounts per household still. Is this a throwback from the pre-open-registration system days that needs revising or can residents get in trouble for using the open reg system to make masses of alts? Residents can IM me if they're curious who I'm talking about.

Yes, the alt restrictions are applicable. What happens here is, when it's enforced: say someone has 25 alts (excessive, but this is an example). It comes to our attention that they have so many--sometimes this is in conjunction with abuse, sometimes via other means. So, all the accounts get placed on hold and the account holder is asked to select 5 at the most (allowing providence for their household) to keep. The others will be deactivated. We reserve the right to do this as the ToS states. Note that for Lindens, there are special allowances--like needing many Tester alt accounts to run through complex bugs, so the alt # limit doesn't apply here and would infact be quite counterproductive, but I know some have asked me about it so I wanted to address it.
