I know I will probably get in trouble with you Lindens for this but I didn't update my graphics drivers! And guess what? Despite all of the dire warnings version 1.10 and todays upgrade have run flawlessly for me! This is the first time any upgrades worked right from the get go. The avatar lighting even got better after todays upgrade, I haven't crashed and my fps has stayed steady at 20 to 25. Either I just got plain lucky or I somehow have the right computer system by sheer chance. Since this is a question forum I need to ask a question. Is there a secret combination of video card/RAM/CPU etc etc that LL recommends? If you don't have an answer feel free to ask me and I will help you guys out.

"Susie's confession is out in the open!" Why, thanx for sharing. You seem to be an exception to the rule--I've seen so many cases in the last few days where there was bad trouble solved by updating drivers. So consider yourself in a sort of "lucky combination" zone. Sounds like your experience is going smoothly, and I for one am glad. There isn't a "secret combination" we recommend. We do have general System Recommendations. There are so many variants on the market, even amongst graphics cards. Basic advice: buy from somewhere with a good return policy. While SL requires a fairly fast computer, it doesn't require any esoteric parts. I, and I know other Lindens, are into AMD X2 processors because dual-core provides nice multitasking (e.g. run SL and Photoshop at the same time well) at what has become an increasingly affordable price. Some have gone the Intel route, or even MacIntel route--notably Brent (I reference his name so much when it comes to things SL-and-Mac!) and I know Robin uses Macs too. My own experiences with the system I got several months ago are detailed here. They are solely my personal experiences. I am really not all that techy so I wanted something simple. Your mileage may vary, but the bottom line is: I wanted to get something rather generic that would run SL. Before I bought it, I asked around a lot on here, including on the Technical Issues forum. And I can say what works well for me, but only after I've been through it. Practice what we preach, I guess...
