I'm sorry for starting yet another thread on this addon but from the threads about it I have read I still have some questions about Linden's view of this that I would like to have clarified before I go spend the L$ on it.
First, The God mode is an addon based on reverse engineering the client, I read that you would not prosecute the makers as you are contemplating to opening up the protocol so that more can add their own features. I'm not questioning this since I'm all for open software. But what I'm curious about is how LL looks on the users, is there a risk for getting in trouble (warned, banned etc.) by using this addon?.
Secondly, it allows, at least one thing I find outrageous, Maping Avs not in your freindlist, I read that that issue will be adressed as soon a possible. What I'm curious about is since you are going to stop this feature, are you goin to stop any more if it's features?
Third, since my main reason for wanting this product is the liberation of the camera movements and the unrestricted select distance, I was wondering if LL is contemplating implementing this into a future update in the client. The limits as they are now are, to be honest, annoying. I read that it was in the think-tank to remove it but not yet decided and I would like to know if this feature is something that might come without me having to buy third party sotware to get it.

Hi Rickel! We've had a swath of questions about these--including yours. Don't worry, you're not alone. I've asked those Lindens in the know to help provide more info about our position on this. In the meantime: 1. You'll get in trouble if you violate the Community Standards, "God mode hack" or not. For example, the lessened camera constraints are useful for building, but on the off-chance someone uses them for stalking and harassment (e.g., the unfortunate "I can see what you're doing" threats via IM), that's clearly against our Guidelines and disturbs the Second Life of another Resident. That would not be allowed. 2. Yup, this came up many times on here too. That's absolutely on the todo list to fix, and it's important. Again, while we allow broad freedoms for Residents, it's often not nice to map-track--especially with strangers or those who'd otherwise feel uncomfortable--without asking first. 3. We're in the midst of internal discussions about this now. There are pros and cons each way. A lot has been going on with current "titan" issues--the release of dual Previews, the requests to return PvP Abuse aka "SHOW and KNOW", related ban and security issues, the open registration concerns, etc.--and as soon as we have more info on this, it'll be posted, likely on Announcements & News but I'd highly recommend bookmarking Robin Linden's blog with Essential Community News: Be The Change. Currently, whether you get it or not is up to you.
