Can a basic account own an island?

I've bought an island, which should arrive soon. (Yay!) I've cleared out all my mainland holdings, and now I'm thinking of downgrading to a basic; I don't need the stipend to support me and I don't plan on owning any mainland land.

Can a basic account own an island, or do I need to keep my premium account?

Hi Nepenthes. I checked about this awhile back: due to the way billing arrangements are currently made, yes, you need to be a Premium account holder to initially purchase a Private Island. However, once you've got your very own estate (and it sounds like you're already past that stage), I believe you can switch to Basic--I'd recommend speaking to the Concierge personally for further advice pertaining to this.
