Does the alt account share the same inventory as my main? And if not is there a way to share my main inventory with my alt?

No and no Your alt has its own inventory, completely separate from yours. These inventories can not be shared. If we did allow sharing, it could cause problems with no-transfer and no-copy objects. You can, however, give your alt copies of things for which you have copy and transfer rights to.
