Dear Linden's,

This week some friends and I came up with the idea of organizing the largest online gathering ever (in Second Life). We thought it over and decided to apply for the Guinness Book of Records. We set ourself the goal of gathering 10.000 residents in 3 hours.

I posted the plan on my weblog as a suggestion and asked other residents to share their thoughts with me.

Check the post on my weblog: http://livingsecondlife.blogspot.com/2007/01/first-guinness-book-of-records-attempt.html

First conclusion: "It is - at this moment - technically impossible to have more than 160 residents in one Sim. So: skip your attempt."

Dear Linden's, what would you advise? Is it impossible? Shall I skip our attempt? Will it be possible in near future?

Best regards,

Ikkemus

Default regions cap at 40 agents per region. I think private island owners can increase this to 100. Sim performance drops drastically after 40 currently, so increasing it isn't really recommended.

Depending on the size of the location, you could include multiple regions - for example if held at the corner of 4 privately owned regions it might be possible to get 400 people there.

No, it is not possible to get 10,000 people into a single region, or even 4 or 9. Sorry.
