Hi guys

I have a an acquaintance who's having a problem. He has land next to land owned by a beta resident who hasn't logged on in over a year. A squatter has taken up residence on the land. Apparently, the squatter and my acquaintance don't get along very well. The squatter has rezzed prims on her land and then moved them so that they straddle the property lines.

My questions:

1. Is there anything LL can do to resolve property disputes when a landowner is AWOL?

2. Does squatting violate the TOS or CS?

3. My acquaintance has tried to get a Linden to remove the objects from the squatter that straddle the property line, but according to him, no one has responded. Could someone please take action on this?

Here's a picture of the dispute, taken at Muir 249,94,26:

Lorelei, this is a good question for the Knowledge Base... *makes a note* While I can't go into full detail — I am sorry, so much stuff going on right now with the grid issues (as reported @ http://blog.secondlife.com ), but basically:

(1) Linden Answers isn't the right place for abuse reports. An abuse report is... Help menu > Report Abuse. We usually don't get involved in interpersonal property disputes unless there's a clear violation of the ToS, like someone lagging the whole sim badly and leaving for a trip.

(2) Likely not, since you can autoreturn a squatter's objects if you're landowner. It's the landowner's choice who stays.

(3) Please send an abuse report on this, parcel encroachment can be considered abuse.

Just for the record, we've had an open issue for a long time to develop features to better deal with parcel encroachment -- it hasn't been worked on yet, but it's traditionally a long pain. :\

There are some past Linden Answers which go into more detail too.

Best of hope. :)
