Seeing as though the grid is expanding every day, a thought occoured to me. Does SL have time zones? Setting aside the fact that in most areas we can control the sun, assuming we always have the sky at default, if I tp from sim to sim will i see a different sky? In other words, does the sun rise and set in relation to the sim or in relation to the grid? (Hoping this makes sense!) Similarly, is there any pattern to the stars? Are they the same every "night" or random? I thought somewhere there used to be a wiki page about the sky and weather and whatnot but I couldn't find it. On a related note, I would LOVVVVE to have thunderstorms in SL now and then, but recalling a discussion on rain in SL entering houses, I'm sure it will be no time soon

Hiii Jeanette! Second Life has time zones, but they don't function like the "real Earth's". They are estate-specific. Meaning, all of the mainland is set to one clock. So if you go from Sandbox Cordova to Waterhead, it'll still be the same time. However! Owners of private islands can set their own times. This is done in WORLD menu > REGION/ESTATE > ESTATE tab. See the sunphase slider in there? I think the stars are always the same; I once went camping for an appreciable amount of time and didn't see a difference from night to night. Weather effects for now are largely particle-based. Ask Damanios Thetan about his magnificent thunderclouds. Anyone else making cool weather, email me (torley@lindenlab.com) too--I dig this stuff. Inquire with Cid Jacobs about weather technical details--he's an expert. The weather page you seek is: http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=weather And, if you have DEBUG menu up (Ctrl-Alt-D), then select DEBUG > WORLD > MOUSE MOVES SUN, go into Mouselook, and move the mouse up and down to cycle through one day after another. You'll notice the blue of the sky changes from day to day. That's a nice touch with Runitai Linden did.
