Torley Torgeson - Happy go lucky techno vagabond free spirit, always glad to help, sunny disposition, and a habit of framing situations to innocently always see the bright side of things. A unique style, a unique person with more innerweb charisma and parables than i have yet to witness. A fairy tale ending in a cynical world, even if a virtual world. I met Torley in world maybe a couple of times, and slightly interacted via IM and forums, but was always impressed with him
Torley Linden - Corporate Mouth Piece, reframes bad news to make it seem like cold milk and warm cookies fresh from a homespun oven. People who used to like and respect Torley cannot make sense of the actions of the corporate entity. People have told me that my mistrust of this new torley is unfounded... that she is trying to change the system from within
Altruima Linden - Torleys 1st Linden alt, by my own admission, prolly the most hard working enthusiastic helpful of all Lindens I met, now gone, presumably for good. Altruima was the only Linden online on numerous occasions and helped me with very serious problems as well as minor ones, with a smile... to the point where, karmically, i felt obligated to repay her by positive rating her even though it was essentially meaningless
i was made aware today that Altruima Linden, my personal favorite Linden, was in fact, Torley, prior to the debut of the Torley Linden "toon." I had many interactions with Altruima, and the enthusiasm from her, like sips from her coffee mug, was unmatched by any employee i ever met from any company anywhere
i have had much difficulty reconciling Torley Torgeson with Torley Linden, mostly because i felt that the Torley "character" was parlayed into a corporate asset... i have met resistance from people saying Torley Torgeson was doing what she thought was best for SL... Altruima Linden AND Torley Torgeson i will accept that, but Torley Linden is so unlike Torley Torgeson and Altruima Linden, that it doesnt make sense
i didnt know Torley Torgeson as well as some, so i dont feel the personal sense of betrayal many did from Torley Torgeson, but finding out about Altruima Linden hurts... its even my favorite Linden bear... today marks the official death of Altruima Linden for me and i mourn on a personal level for the void left behind
but the fact remains that Torley Torgeson and Altruima Linden were doing the best they could for SL, and I believe and respect that... but Torley Linden is nothing more than a corporate mascot, taken over and used to polish whatever turds the laboratory throws out
to those who claimed Torley Wong was doing the best he could for SL by being part of SL, you are a sucker

the goodwill as a normal resident was used, and the image of the "brand new" Linden was used as a megaphone and sweet sugarcoating for the directives of the laboratory

Torley Linden is an old Linden whose familiar lovable image of Torley Torgeson was used to make you comfortable with what was happening, the new direction of LL
Torley Wong, the saint, was doing his best, and admittedly a fine job, working inside to help the residents as Torley Torgeson and Altruima Linden, the same people that Torley Wong bonded with...
we had the best of both worlds at that point, the resident who was one of us and the anonymous Linden who provided the overwelming majority of the pleasant service i expereinced as a customer of LL... there was no need for the fanfare and prominece of Torley Linden if you conisder Altruima AND Torley Torgesons contributions as seperate and distinct entities if the goal was indeed to "make Sl better."
