I am still waiting for a reply from the Lindens on this question.
WHY is the current limit of 2 accounts per payment method and 5 accounts per household still being selectively enforced? Especially when this policy is documented NOWHERE in the TOS or in the registration signup process any more? And especially when one can create as many UNVERIFIED accounts as one pleases, simply by refusing to provide credit card info or to pay Linden Labs for the account?
It makes no sense at all that I can create 100 untracable unverified alts, and not get charged a single penny, but if I create six or more verified alts and am willing to pay Linden Labs for each of them, I have to risk Linden Labs ordering me to pick which five I want to keep, and having the rest disabled permenantly. What possible purpose does that restriction serve, now that new accounts get no weekly stipend? Why penalize people for providing payment information and paying for their additional alts? I can lie and give pure garbage on the enrollment forms, and can rob Linden Labs of the signup fee for each alt, and most likely get away with that forever. But if I tell the truth and pay them money, they limit me. WHY?
I have a request in the feature voting system to get this repealed, and it's slowly gaining support. Problem is, there are so many burning issues that people feel are more important, like the need for better privacy tools and better tools against griefers, that they don't have the votes to spare for my request.
Come on, Lindens... This is a no-brainer that requires no effort other than a policy decision. Isn't it better to accept money for validated accounts, instead of forcing people to rob you of that income by creating unverified accounts with false information?
Can any Linden provide even ONE valid reason why this policy limiting the number of verified accounts is still in the best interest of ANYONE?
If you can't, then why not repeal it?
