Rumors of a 2nd, Second Life ?

I've heard from more than a small amount of people in SL that there will be a second, SL coming or maybe it should termed a total upgraded version in both software and an all new mainland, islands etc , that would be incompatible with SL as it is now, due to major improvements, overcrowding in the present SL, and improvements "across the board".

Is there any truth to this rumor?

I've certainly never heard anything official about something like this, Max--if some people have told you, they should be so gracious as to cite their sources, so we can all get a lock on the "info".

We can do improvements "across the board" by adapting instead of starting from 0 again. Overcrowding would have been a concern were it not for the very different way 1.9 handles many Residents online (concurrent) by a more scalable system called Distributed Messaging--it reduces server load.

Indeed, what's really impressive are the ways new innovations find themselves into the world of Second Life to add to new content, in a way giving the content a Second Life of its own. For example, from Preview 1.9.1, flexible objects and hardware lighting.
