I know someone has already posted about this on the SecondLife Answers forum, but I think it is worth revisiting. I received twelve closure notices in my in box, saying that the bugs are fixed in the new release. There is no indication that a real human being has read my reports and made a judgement, it does look very like a set email sent in reply to every bug report.
THIS is why I had more or less given up on the whole bug reporting thing, Torley. You report a bug, get a number, and then you get an email telling you everythings fixed. Even when it isn't. And you start again...and again....and again.... And then you give up.
The positioning bar changes, which mean that they behave in an entirely different way in world, do not appear to have been documented anywhere. If they were, please show me where. The change I am talking about is that instead of staying in place, indicating where an object is in relation to other objects in world, where one could pan around using the camera and keep a continuous eye on the position of the object, now, the positioning bars appear to move about, as though anchored to a set point - maybe the vanishing point not sure.
Is this a bug...or a deliberate change? A bug or a feature? How can I know? I had feedback in email form to my reports which indicated it is my video card and old computer, although people who posted to the thread in technical issues, and friends with higher spec and newer machines confirm that the positioning bars have changed behaviour. Certainly it is still there in 1.9. But I have a sign off email for that "bug" like all the others, 1.9 will have fixed this, thanks very much. Except it hasn't.
This is killing building in SL for me. I hate it. I am willing to admit I can't speak for every creator in SL or even 1/1000th of them, but I'd be interested to know if anyone thinks this change is a good idea...I can't imagine that anyone, whether a builder of large objects or a creator of tiny ones, would find this change useful or positive.
If you want the people in world to keep reporting bugs they HAVE to have feedback. And have to feel that the effort they put into reporting things will actually be noticed. So...why was this change to the behaviour introduced? Is it a feature or a bug? Are you going to change it back again? If not, why not?
OK...I'll shut up now.
